(mostly NSC, wouldnt ya know it) hmmm... so many issues to address, so little time.... let me warn you all right now that since i've given everyone a considerable number of days opportunity to silence me, and not a single soul other than our dear departed dred has been brave enough to speak up in full favour of NSC Minimalism, and in fact several have stepped forward to champion the cause of losers everywhere - the following shall probably be in my usual vein of being fairly packed with natural NSC goodness. so if that kind of thing scares you - stop now!! so firstly.... > Just a thought though... in the continuing absence of she of the excessively > large coiffure, could this in fact be a ploy by an insurrectionist to test the > mood of the (very quiet) Colvinites before launching some sort of coup? I note > that one kmcleod was very quick to respond, trying to gauge the mood of the > rest of the list... a little *too* quick perhaps? Have you ever seen Kat & > this Dred guy in the same place at the same time? Exactly... very astute thinking indeed keith... and although i will admit that a certain level of insanity has recently been employed by myself in an attempt to revive this here list (you'll have to read my next post if you want details of said insanity), i must deny taking on any kind of dredful identity to do so. even in my jetlagged and sleep-deprived state, i would not slander my *own* name.... (i dont think). however.... while we're following suspicious lines of thinking, i notice that one neil hepburn, who has been somewhat lurkive of late, has also made a resounding comeback in light of the Dred Incident....hmmm... neil? anything you want to share with the group? i know for a fact that at least a few of us have considered this very approach for giving the list a good kick in the butt.... something to ponder on perhaps... ;) so while we're on the subject of list member ages, it may be interesting to remember a time when a survey was being taken of all our pertinent details, for those who wanted to participate, and a statistical summary of the results was to be delivered to the list, so we could all have an idea of who and where we all are. Now... hmmmm.... whatever happened to that? i believe there was someone who was collating all the results.... just cant remember who it was.... could it have been... no... couldnt have been.... BigHAIR, could it? Well... i guess in lieu of the complete statistical breakdown, i'll just have to join in by saying i'm also a relatively young'un at 26... (damn, still wanna say 25 but that was all over a couple of weeks ago). I'm finding it interesting tho that a lot of us young'uns seem to have been listening to Shawn since the Steady On days, or at least longer than AFSR.... guess we're just all way beyond our time hey ;) stay tuned for more NSCness coming your way soon from KatWhatever.... kat :) HSASR... ehhh.. whatever. - ------------------------------------------------------------------------ To unsubscribe from the list send mail to majordomo@smoe.org with 'unsub scribe small-repairs' in the message body. The confidential and covert nature of the mission has prevented us from divulging details thus far. Our good friends and partners in crime Rob and Sara have already alluded somewhat to the mission since its completion, so it is only right that we now share all. So in summary: - --------------------------------------- The Mission: Operation Lone Star (OLS) The Team: Kat - Commander-in-Chief (CinCOLS), Lisa - Operations Coordinator (OPS OLS), John - Ground Transportation & Recon Officer (GT/RO OLS), plus several OLS partners in crime (OLSPICes) The Target Zone: Austin, TX The Victim: BigHAIR - Chosen Operative, Western Sector (COWS) The Objective: to see what the hell it is about Austin that makes everyone, including Shawn, move there and what could be done to force our leader to return to her people. The Outcome: well, she posted didn't she?? The Breakdown of Events: 12/29/98 1120hrs local: OPS OLS arrives in target zone to scout out territory and intended whereabouts of victim at time of planned attack. Informs GT/RO of intel gathered onsite. 2358hrs: CinC and GT/RO arrive in target zone and liaise with OPS re last minute attack strategy. 12/30/98 0030hrs: CinC and GT/RO make surprise attack on COWS with backup from OPS and one partner in crime - Tina aka nsbH. COWS is taken thoroughly by surprise and puts up no defense at all, other than a futile effort to hide behind the door. The OLS team have succeeded in their first mission. 0300hrs: Team OLS retire to the pre-arranged safe house (codenamed: Courtyard Marriott, Austin TX) for some much needed rest and to restore energy for the remainder of the mission. 12/31/98 - 01/06/99 Team OLS spend the remainder of the mission in a semi-vampiric state, ie. staying up and out on the town all night and sleeping all day, and totally failing to report any kind of activity back to small-repairs home base. It would seem the team has discovered the black hole nature of Austin that is responsible for the mysterious disappearance of BigHAIR. 01/02/99 1530hrs: Team OLS drop around to visit the object of our affection, one Ms Shawn Colvin - however we must have misread the date on our afternoon tea invites since she is not home. (heheh... *kidding* of course, what do you think we are - Shawn stalkers?? not that the thought of scouring the shores of Lake Austin searching for the one and only "get out of this" house didn't cross our minds at *least* once... but Team OLS has a high standard of integrity and honour to uphold and would never stoop to such clearly low levels of freakish behaviour - thats our story and we're sticking to it) ;) 01/05/99 1800hrs: The team get a true Austin experience on a standard recon mission to the Continental Club as it happily happens to be happy (hippy) hour with Toni Price. Toni is made an honorary team member but declines to leave Austin to join the team on further missions. We still love her anyway cos she drinks nearly as well as us. (If you havent heard this woman sing - check her out. And many thanks to small-repairer and Shawn website owner extraordinaire Sean Petrie for first introducing CinCOLS to the magic that is Toni a couple of years ago) 01/06/99 0800hrs: With the departure of OPS and GT/RO, the team disbands after a gruelling week of BigHAIR interrogations and reconnaisance of Austin. Our valiant leader agrees, under pressure, to neglect her people no longer and once more lead the Shawndom forth into the new year, where there will no doubt be much SC content for all to enjoy (if you like that kind of thing...) 01/10/99 0830hrs: CinCOLS finally departs the scene, having required several days longer than other team members to gear up for the long return trip to home base (codenamed: Sydney, the place to be when the new millenium hits) 0900hrs: BigHAIR attempts to resume normal daily life in the wake of Team OLS, but with a new resolve to be the best damn list hostess the world has ever seen. - ------End transmission-------- So there you have it people - never let it be said that small-repairers are not a dedicated bunch of maniacs who will go to extreme lengths (and distances) for the greater good. Anyone interested in participating in upcoming missions should submit a resume to CinCOLS at this address. Your first message (below) prompted me to make my thoughts known and your second one has implicated you and others in one of the greatest deceptions in the last decade. Big Hair 'moves' to Austin, the only picture I've seen of Big Hair clearly shows she does NOT have big hair. My only chance to meet BH at Telluride is sabotaged by my company which has links (albeit tenuous) with Columbia. BH claims to have met Shawn, but I've never seen them both at the same place at the same time. BH is the list hostess with the mostest and a competing list has as as many subscribers as the number of unbroken strings on Shawn's guitar after a gig, whereas small-repairs@smoe.org has as many subscribers as ODB has convictions. I rest my case. Big Hair is Shawn Colvin and is about to be found out, so Kat (an anagram of AGF if you went to my sub standard school) and others in the know attempt a cover up as large and preposterous as the lower half of Monica Lewinsky's current gym kit. BH is SC ! (See even their names are exactly the same length) PS - I hear Motorhead are to release a slightly adapted version one of Shawn's finest. - "The Facts About Lemmy" PPS I'm 37, going on 12. - -----Original Message----- From: Kat McLeod To: small-repairs@smoe.org Date: 16 January 1999 12:11 Subject: Re: [s-r] Misc.
