I'm a mere digester, and expect Julie Miller will have been well covered by the time the next one comes in (if not, I despair of you lot.) But perhaps the other party might not have been well reported on. Earlier this month I grabbed a ferry across the Irish Sea to catch a couple of dates by Kathy Mattea at small clubs in Belfast & Dublin, and Juliet Turner was her support at Whelan's in Dublin on August 6th. I saw Juliet accompanying herself on acoustic guitar, with just backing from a guy who switched between electric bass and cello from song to song. I was sore impressed, and names like Shawn & Jonatha indeed sprang to mind. She has released just one CD so far. Not a copy of it was to be had at the venue, nor in the record stores of Grafton Street the next day. On further investigation, it proves to have been released on a little Scottish label, as long ago as 1996. Best I could find for any interested US parties was a pointer to this source: Rad Rockers, PO Box 207, Milan, MI 48160-0207 USA Amateur reviews of the CD can be found at: Re: If you click here on the "call for memorial song to be tribute single" link, or go directly to: you'll find more background info on Ms. Turner than I could find anywhere else out there on the web a couple of weeks ago. Hope this helps someone a little.
