So, it *should* be the exact same Live '88 that was out before, you'll just see them in stores again. Regards, John ................................. . . John DeFord . . First and foremost, let me say that Jean and everyone else out there who have said so are absolutely correct: Sarah is AMAZING and this tour is FANTASTIC!! I've seen Sarah 3 time on this current "Surfacing" tour (Oct. 3, 1997, Houston, TX -- March 15 & 16, 1998, both in Austin, TX) and the set list is simply stunning. If I count all the times I've seen Sarah play live (including concerts, Lilith Fair, radio shows, etc.) the number comes up to 14 and I can honestly say she gets better and better. Her stage presence, vocal strength, and talent are simply undeniable when you see her live. >Plenty >Do What You Have To Do* (piano only) >Witness >Ice >I Love You >Mary >Fear >Elsewhere >Vox >Into the Fire >Possession >----------------- ** pseudo encore >Ice Cream >Sweet Surrender >Fumbling Towards Ecstasy >----------------- ** real encore >Angel* The above songs are my picks for the stand outs of the current show. While everything is excellent, I feel like these are either jaw-dropping or just plain rockin'. I've always teetered between Tori and Sarah as my two favorites (I've seen Tori play live 9 times and I have met both of them multiple times and can say they are both really great people), but after the 3 shows I've seen on this tour, I really think I have to go with Sarah. She is just so, so ... WOW!! >I highly recommend this show... she played all but Circle off of FTE... there [snip] >call the screeching song) pretty impressive. I knew sarah was good, but i >didn't know she was THAT good. Whew! Yeah, Sarah's lighting is really amazing. I've been doing theatre since I was like 3, so I always pay special attentention to an artists light design and set. Sarah's is just as spectacular as her voice. Not only does she have the full range of various spots (most with rotating gobos and gels) she has a whopping 18 computer programmed VariLights (for those of you who don't know, those are the little lights that can move, change colors, change shapes, etc;) that she puts to very good use. VariLights are about $9,000 A PIECE, so you do the math. Then, on top of that, she has a full size fiber optic curtain that hangs behind the band at lights up during certain songs (I remember it specifically on "I Love You" and "FTE"). That curtain is about $16,000. So, I guess what I've really saying in all of this is what Jean said: if you get the chance, GO SEE HER!! You will not regret it. If you're a huge Sarah fan like me, I think you'll find it an almost spiritual expierence. But even if you're not that big of a fan, you will go away well on your way to becoming one. The one-hour concert special will air on April 11 on VH1, at 1 pm and 8 pm EST. This special, I am led to believe, is a new one, a concert from '97, not the other "VH1: Behind the Music" Lilith Fair special that had interviews and has aired several times already. This April 11 one is a premiere show.
