Are there any out there that can be purchased??!! I have never seen a Shawn video. Also, is there any chance that someone out there could, out of the generosity of their heart, send me a copy of the VH1 special with Shawn and Mary Chapin? I'm just dying to see it and we don't have cable so there is no chance of ever seeing it. I know that is a lot to ask, but I thought that if someone, by chance, had nothing better to, then they could send little ol' me a copy. Anyway, thanks for taking the time to read my babble. lol, Sarasoda - ------------------------------------------------------------------------ To unsubscribe from the list send mail to majordomo@smoe.org with 'unsub scribe small-repairs' in the message body. My girlfriend's favourite mix tape just bought it, she doesn't have all the original CD's anymore, and I thought it'd be cool to get a "mix CD" for her. I figure there HAS to be someone on this list who would know where to find them. Lordy, she is a hoot! I won't try to pass on much of her humor, cuz I know I'd fail. But if you all beseech me in your sweetest voices, I'll try to share a couple of lines. But first -- yeah, yeah, I'm a tease! -- I need to rave about her guitar playing. Being a relative newcomer to her fanclub, I had not seen her play without a band prior to this evening. I have the Live '88 CD and a couple of other tapes, but, wow, seeing is believing! She's a natural. I was also impressed with her ability to change tunings so frequently and yet get still get them right on the money each time. That's not easy to do on-stage! OK, a few anecdotes. The main running gag played off the fact that the 9:30 Club has TV monitors all over the place. (They use them to play music videos when no one is on stage.) So, throughout the show, Shawn would get them to turn on the Academy Awards. You know, she'd finish a song and suddenly say, "OK, let's see who's winning." And we'd watch for a minute or two and she'd goof off on whatever it was. She also confessed that she loves award shows of any kind -- Oscars, Grammies, Olympics, whatever. "I like to see people lose. I like to see them win. I like to cry." Let's see, what else? She had just spoken to Mary Chapin Carpenter -- I guess Chapin still lives here in DC part-time? -- who asked Shawn to convey to us two of her latest pet phrases. One was "blow monkees." A most versatile noun, it can be used in almost any situation. Shawn starts a sentence saying "Yeah, I'll be touring soon with, uh ..." Chapin finishes, "some blow monkees." You heard it here, folks! Finally, Shawn shared her own new (to her) pet phrase: "When you see that someone has a booger in their nose, you say, 'hey, there's a bat in your cave.'" Wheeew. *Now* do you see why I slapped on the PG-13 rating? Oh yeah! I almost forgot, one more: Following up on the boogers, she confessed that as a child she onced fed her sister a...well, naw, I shouldn't tell. Oh OK, OK I will. (That's how she told it too.) She fed her sister a scab -- and told her it was the dark part of a potato chip. Yummy! That's all folks! The set list was much as described previously. She did two encores, the crowd listened attentively to the quiet songs, and considerable joy and beauty were shared by all. - -Meri, medicated to the hilt to combat a bad flu- - ------------------------------------------------------------------------ To unsubscribe from the list send mail to majordomo@smoe.org with 'unsub scribe small-repairs' in the message body.
