Well, just thought I'd let ya'll know.... today I gave my presentation on Shawn for US History. Thank-you to everybody who e-mailed with all those great suggestions that made me completely indecisive up to the last moment! :) What I ended up doing was saying a bit about Shawn (I don't remember most of what I said-- I get nervous in front of crowds-- but I did brag about her Grammys), showing a picture I printed off the internet (I heard someone say that she's pretty-- how sweet), and playing Diamond in the Rough. It was a tossup between that and Shotgun Down the Avalanche, and I figured since this was pretty early in the morning, Shotgun might lull them to sleep. They seemed to like it fine, and they were even attentive when I talked about her. I lent A Few Small Repairs to the teacher, and he said it was awesome. (At least I got one convert, even if it was the teacher-- hey, why not, right?) I guess that's about it... - --Lindsey oh, ps-- i heard Nothin on Me on the radio again... i gotta say, i don't really care for this new version much. The production kind of drowns out her voice, and you can't hear that sarcastic laugh in it as well. Oh well, it's Shawn, so it's good anyway. :) - ------------------------------------------------------------------------ To unsubscribe from the list send mail to majordomo@smoe.org with 'unsub scribe small-repairs' in the message body. But really, you need all 3 to get all of the best tunes... songs like "When I was a boy," "February," "My Friends," and so on. But my favorite if I had to choose is The Honesty Room. All Shawn fans should pick this one up. <> YES!! I do know of Kristen Hall. And I know her personally too. I lived in Atlanta for a while and got to see her out, see her play, and talk to her many times. We have close mutual friends. Kristen is great! I don't have all of her stuff though ::shameful pout:: Tell me more about your cd! Yours from Austin ~Mimi PS: Shawn is playing in Round Rock, TX on 3/3 for the Old Settler's Bluegrass Festival, and is playing at the Empire Theatre in San Antonio on 3/4. - ------------------------------------------------------------------------ To unsubscribe from the list send mail to majordomo@smoe.org with 'unsub scribe small-repairs' in the message body. For those interested in checking Kristen out, you have to search for her stuff. There is a song of hers on a couple of Putumayo Samplers (the Folk and double singer-songwriter ones, I believe), but I have never seen her solo stuff in any store. I bought "Be Careful What You Wish For" from CDNOW. It's an excellent CD. I'll ge the Dar you recommended soon, as well. I'm looking forward to the Dar, Lucy Kaplansky, Richard Shindell collaboration in the fall, that should be great. hmmmm.
