For example, Sheryl Crow last album has two more tracks in the european release and three in the australian one (i'm not totally sure on this last one). Anyway, the point is that the price of CDs is cheaper in the USA than in the rest of the world, so they put bonus tracks to keep us from purchasing the USA CDs via internet, for example. Anyway, as nowadays the USA currency is very high (at least here in Spain), it isn't that necesary because now the prices are nearly equal. For A few small repairs, maybe the reason was that Shawn wanted to include that song she cowrote with Neil, and maybe there wasn't time enough to do it in the USA CD wich, surely, came out first. As everybody knows, Shawn is a die-hard fan of Neil, and when she received a tape with several unfinished songs by Neil, she worked on them and she was unhappy that only one of them did it in the album. By the way, has somebody heard any of the other songs? Maybe you could do a request. She once said: No one has to twist my arm to play a Crowded House song So probably she'll be happy to play those songs. And if they are half good as WIGPF, they'll be damn good. Yes, I am a Crowded House fan too. I think that the main problem with us (some of us, surely) and Celine Dion is that she is TOO SWEET. She is too sweet to me, i mean. There is a fine line separating emotion and almibar (is this an english word?). I love artists who walk on the line, sometimes too sweet and sometimes rocking, but Celine is always the other side, so though i recognice that her voice is nice, look, there are SO MANY good singers around there! To me, it's the same with this man, oh i can't remember the name, that handsome block with long blond hair... I don't know why people put Hanson in the same pot as Spice Girls, by the way. A better choice would be Backstreet boys, to me. I personally don't like Hanson, too poppy, but they do their thing, so I really respect them. What maybe upsets people is that a not very talented band (an opinion) achieves so much success just because they are what people want, because the commercial market loves them. I don't really care of the commercial market, you know. This goes back at least as far as the '60s, when the Beatles' original UK albums offered 14 tracks each while Capitol chopped up, cut-and-pasted, and generally bastardized the records for the US market, usually including only 11 tracks per LP. Additionally, the Beatles' British label (in a common practice at the time) almost never included singles on albums--neither the A-sides nor the B-sides--so that consumers would rarely have to shell out money for the same song twice. The flip side of this is that music, like lots of other things, costs a hell of a lot more in the UK than it does in the US, so maybe the Brit labels have to do SOMETHING to placate the masses... As for tacking B-sides onto Shawn's (or anyone else's) albums, that's a two-sided coin. On the one hand, the consumer gets some extra value (assuming the songs are good). On the other hand, if Shawn herself decided not to include "What I Get Paid For" on AFSR for artistic reasons, then her "vision" is compromised by foreign labels that tack it on. - ------------------------------------------------------------------------ To unsubscribe from the list send mail to majordomo@smoe.org with 'unsub scribe small-repairs' in the message body.
