But I just wanna say that I'm a brazilian fan of Shawn Colvin, and I'll be very happy to participate on topics related to her music. Obviously I'm completely off-topic, but I may dare to post something once in a while. :) Unfortunately, maybe you'll have to put up with my English, since I'm not a native-speaking person. They couldn't find it for the longest time, but Jody Denberg finally dug it up and they played it for me one morning when I was just waking up and I was running around the apartment trying to find a tape to record it. Well, that tape didn't survive . It is, unfortunately, out of commission. I was wondering if anyone had that song so I could get a copy of it or something. Also, I've been wanting to hear "Wish You Were Here" as well, even though it's a a Christmas-type song and everything. Anyway, if anyone can point me in the right direction, that would be extremely cool. Thanks a lot...oh, and I was just watching Daria and just after that they had a little news thing and ODB (red suit guy) was talking about how he interrupted Shawn and everything. He said that she's beautiful and her speech was beautiful and that's what inspired him to get up there and speak. Then the reporter (kurt loder?) said, "Just for the record, Shawn Colvin had not yet made her speech when ODB rushed the stage." Just thought I'd let you know. And yes, someone said "where was ODB when Celine Dion or Hanson were performing?" That's exactly what I said in an earlier post, BUT ... if he would have interrupted Hanson, we couldn't have seen the drumstick drop .... that was worth it. :) Take care, Kristen ______________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free Email at http://www.hotmail.com - ------------------------------------------------------------------------ To unsubscribe from the list send mail to majordomo@smoe.org with 'unsub scribe small-repairs' in the message body. If you don´t know this; Ol´55 is included as a bonus track on the european version of "Cover girl". Try order it from www.boxman.se. A great swedish mailorder-company. But, anyway, I'm sorry she was so overplayed and on every channel all the time for over a year, but there is good reasoning~she is still talented and a VERY sweet person...I saw her in concert twice a during her last tour...at one of the shows i gave her a dozen roses and a letter that included my address...she held my hands and thanked me in front of everyone~i got a standing ovation. Less than a week later she mailed me an autographed picture (it's not stamped~it says my name on it) and another autograph on paper i sent her. Needless to say, i was thrilled. In September, i gave Shawn a dozen roses with a letter including a Self~addressed~stamped envelope....i got nothing in return..not even an autograph...and i poured my heart out to Shawn which was a lot more than i said to Celine..I'm not terribly insulted that i didnt get anything back..i mean i was hoping like hell and i still book for the maibox everyday...i know she is busy and i understand that...but my point was that Celine isnt as bad as you guys make her out to be!! I had no idea that Once Blue was touring!! You're right--Martin sang backup for Shawn during a Letterman show appearance last year. I forget which song, but it was probably "Sunny" :) I went straight to the record store the next day and picked up their self-titled album! Man. . . I'm jealous. I've never seen Rebecca Martin live! I live waaaayyy down here in NC, and they'll probably never make the trip (since most folks have never heard of Once Blue). You'll love the CD--it's great. Unfortunately, I believe it's the only thing that they've released. Did they mention anything about a NEW album at the show? Have you heard of Mary Lou Lord? Chances are that if you like Rebecca Martin and Shawn Colvin, you'll go crazy over her stuff! Her new album is "Got No Shadow," and Shawn sings background on one of the songs. Last week, Mary Lou's tour came down South, and I finally managed to catch her live show in Chapel Hill. She even performed a Colvin song (Polaroids)! Now then, I've gotta go check out Pollstar and see if the Lisa Loeb/Once Blue tour is headed this way! She was fantastic with a stong bluesy voice accompanied by piano. Her songs feature some accessible melodies - - with pretty sophisticated lyrics - especially for a 23 year old. Her single called "Surrounded" is getting some airplay in Cleveland and she is starting to support it with a mini US tour. If you get a chance to catch her or pick up her album make sure you do - because she is a major talent who all of us will be hearing from in the future.
