How cool was that, though, huh? Shawn mentioned in the post-show interview on E! that she immediately thought that this "interruption" was actually a good thing as it would attract more media attention. She preceded this statement with: "You know how sick I am?" LOL! Ya gotta love this girl! Seriously though, I literally jumped in the air (frightening both my kids as well as the cat) when she won both awards. Two out of the top three - how cool is that? I didn't dare say it on this mailing list, but judging by past NARAS voting I didn't give Shawn a snowball's chance in hell of winning anything this year. I JUST LOVE SURPRISES!!!!! ;^) > P.S. She is so shy, in fact, that she has a hard time even looking at the person talking to her. Which makes her all the more amazing as a musician, when you consider the fact that she is so bold in everything she does on stage -- i.e. beatboxing, whistling, etc. She is not afraid of what people think of her as an artist, which is really very admirable. I love this about her!!!!! Although I haven't seen it myself yet, my brother reliably informs me that he saw an ad on TV yesterday afternoon (ie. mere hours after Shawn's win) for AFSR, with the additional plug of "winner of Grammys for Record of the Year and Song of the Year" Now, the only other time I have ever, *EVER* seen AFSR advertised on tv was the morning Shawn was interviewed on the Today show - they ran an ad for the album in the ad break immediately preceding the interview. So I'm pretty damn impressed that whoever was responsible jumped on it so quickly yesterday... (hey, the CD's only been out for... how long now? A year and something?)
