Ah, it gets worse. "Come on Eileen" even been covered by one of those ironic, hipster ska bands by the name of Save Ferris. Is '80's kitsch in now? Meanwhile, back on topic, their's a little blurb, with a teeny-tiny picture of Shawn in the new issue of People (something about fashion on the cover). It discusses the pop song as theme song phenomenon that (re)started with Friends a couple years ago. There was a small photo of Shawn with the guys.(pg.45). Since I'm in such a chatty mood, I just want to say how totally cool I think this is. Shawn and Paul are two of my favorite songwriters and I've always thought that they'd a deadly tag-team combo. I can't tell you how cool it was to hear Shawn cover his song "Even Here We Are" live. Was there any mention about when the album's coming out? Last I heard, Paul was "between labels." Paul Westerberg recommendations (for folkies, so I'll go easy): "14 Songs"; the Replacements: "Tim", "Pleased to Meet Me". Yeah, there are electric guitars, but Paul's a real sensitive guy. He'd could sing "Skyway" at a coffeehouse and no one would complain. - - Mark (can't decide if he should bite the bullet and get tickets for Shawn's New London CT show or hope and wait for a venue closer to Boston...) - ------------------------------------------------------------------------ To unsubscribe from the list send mail to majordomo@smoe.org with 'unsub scribe small-repairs' in the message body. I'm only 25............ :( Sarah, I'm 26, and I know a lot of people my age who've discovered gey hairs and/or excessive hair in the shower drain. I found my first grey hair about a week ago. I figure it's one of two things: 1) even though we had always thought of greying as something that happens to "older" people, the definition of "older" has changed - I can't believe I'm this old already! 2) people these days are a lot more stressed out than people in previous generations 3) (okay, so I thought of one more) there's some strange environmental phenomenon going on. 4) people of previous generations never told anyone they were going grey, they just started dying their hair. Don't worry... worrying will just give you more grey hairs! :-) Roger, who may be delusional in thinking his one grey hair makes him look more distinguished - ------------------------------------------------------------------------ To unsubscribe from the list send mail to majordomo@smoe.org with 'unsub scribe small-repairs' in the message body. (born and raised in Ventura just a bit north of ya) and I've really been through it with OPB or Oregon Public Broadcasting here. Extensive lobbying by myself (and I'm sure many others) finally got them to pick up "Sessions" and guess when they finally put it on: At FREEKING 1 o'clock in the morning! It's unbelieveable stupidity to look at the quality of the upcoming lineup: Richard Thompson, Shawn, Keb Moe, Paula Cole, Joe Jackson, Yo Yo Ma, and Ben Folds Five to name a few; and think that the station could believe that this isn't prime time material. Instead, in prime time Friday nights we get "The New Red Green Show" (WoooHooo!), and a bad English melodrama. (No offense intended to our oversees friends...there are MANY bad American melodramas on TV these days as well!) I urged the station to look at their audience. The 25 to 45 crew are the parents with small children who watch Barney and Sesame Street right? And WE are the ones whom are hammered for membership pledges based on the wonderful programming they are bringing out kids right? So what do they put in the prime slot to reward US? Lawrence Welk for the blue hairs?!?!?... Well, I for one said: "A one-an-a two-an-a NO CHECK FOR YOU THIS YEAR!"
