Hi there Kat! :) I'm glad to know I'm one of a group of Aussies here! Too good! I'm actually in Queensland, but I was down in Sydney on holidays in late September/early October last year and, by some quirk of fate, got an excellent table and saw Shawn at the Harbourside Brasserie. What can I say? It was great! And Monique Brumby was her usual very good self! [I like her too!]. I wish I could tell you I'm a Sydneysider! I wish I lived down there, but unfortunately not... how about you...whereabouts are you? I was advised to buy Fumbling Towards Ecstasy straight away but have only just got round to it. (Actually it was my third purchase in a 'Buy two get one free' deal). Anyway I've been listening to it for a few days and I think I prefer Surfacing. Is this SMcL heresy? It's got loads of things that match up to Surfacing individually (Possession, Good Enough, Elsewhere etc.) but is weaker as a whole I think. My version has a (fairly unsurprising) cover of Blue and another version of Possession on the end. The US tracklisting at CDNow seems to be missing those two. Thanks for introducing me to SMcL and is it worth buying the earlier albums (but I think I know the answer to this already)? Now I *don't* want to start a bloody war but is she gay? Some of the tracks would suggest this (e.g. Good Enough) and I saw a feature about her in a gay and lesbian mag a while ago. I'm just cautious becasue a similar question on the Julia Fordham list a while ago got a few angry (i.e. how dare you suggest that) comments. I want to know 'cos as a gay man it's always useful to have as many talented gay names as possible in case I need them to bolster an argument. I thought Shawn might be gay for a while and have to admit to feeling just a tiny bit disappointed when I found out she wasn't. She had a relationship with her (male) producer, her (male) keyboard player and last year married her (male) drummer. And stated that when engaging in Monica Lewinsky-type behavior, she prefers swallowing to spitting. k Jason - ------------------------------------------------------------------------ To unsubscribe from the list send mail to majordomo@smoe.org with 'unsub scribe small-repairs' in the message body. My version aslo has an additional version of Possession at the end. And Sarah is married! (to a man!) I think they got married not too long ago. I saw a picture of them in some magazine and an interview not too long ago. I think you have pletny of talented gay musicians that it doesn't matter that Sarah is now married--indigo girls, kd lang and melissa etheridge are enough of a list. Well, that's my NSC for the day. - ---HA - ------------------------------------------------------------------------ To unsubscribe from the list send mail to majordomo@smoe.org with 'unsub scribe small-repairs' in the message body.
