Okay, here's a few albums I picked up this year. Slackjaw "Buoyancy vs. Gravity" - an edgy little four-piece band from Portland, OR. This one or their debut "A Sinking Ship Loves Company" are the perfect late night "road trip" albums. Available directly from the band at P.O. Box 9294, Portland, OR 97207 Ben Folds Five "Whatever And Ever Amen" - if you watch VH1 very much you may be getting tired of their videos, but the album's still great. Available bloody well everywhere... Klaatu "3:47 EST" and "Hope" - two breakthrough seventies albums re-released on CD by Canada's Attic Records. Very few people know anything about this band other than that they were rumoured to be The Beatles recording under an assumed name (they weren't) and the fact that The Carpenters did a hideous cover version of their song "Calling Occupants of Interplanetary Craft". Both are available from CD Connection at http://www.cdconnection.com/ Mouth Bandits "Product" - I liked this music so much that I bought the band! Well, not exactly... But I have arranged to offer all their previous albums on CD through my company and have just finished work on this one (their first new release in eight years and some of their best work, IMHO). A sampler (featuring cuts from all their albums) will be available before the end of the year. If you're interested in checking out what kind of music would make a normally sane human being "bet the farm" on a basically unknown band, contact me at the e-mail address below. If you watched today, Sarah McLachlan was the musical guest and when they announced that Shawn would be on tomorrow, Sarah started clapping and professed her love for Shawn. Very cute :) So any way, set those VCR's folks. She's doing a Christmas toon, so this should be a keeper. - -Casey - -+-+-+-+--+-+-+-+--+-+-+-+--+-+-+-+--+-+-+-+--+-+-+-+--+-+-+-+- casey@tisd.net http://www.tisd.net/~casey/ "If I shed a tear, I won't cage it ... if I feel a rage I won't deny it ...
