I can't resist. Sounds like "You'd better not quit your day job!" You do good work. Think of what a difference you're making in these people's lives. Think of it as a calling to do missionary work. You're enlightening the masses who have been deaf until now. Good luck and enjoy the gig. Now get out there an convert some more Shawn fans. I've seen her a whole bunch of times, but I guess my favorites are the workshops she does with Chapin at Telluride (this year Jim Lauderdale joined in) down in Elks Park. Very intimate, very informal, and just lots of great music, plus I usually manage a seat up front. In any event, I'm also a DJ on the college radio station where I teach. This sunday, I'm doing an hour's special on Shawn. I'm leading off with her doing Richard Thompson's Wall of Death from that Mountain Stage where I first heard her. I'll play other things from each of her CD's, plus probably some other stuff off of various things that Columbia has put out. If anyone on the list lives in the near vicinity of Oneonta, the station is WONY, 90.9. The special is on from 8-9 this Sunday. BTW, if any of you ever have achance to get involved in a college station or a community station, do so-it's a balst. Dave Ring ringdw@Oneonta.edu oh yeah, I meant blast, not balst. - ------------------------------------------------------------------------ To unsubscribe from the list send mail to majordomo@smoe.org with 'unsub scribe small-repairs' in the message body. You truly will be sainted someday. Right now.... all of us should vow to take on X-Mas jobs at record stores (moonlighting of course), so that we convert more of the Philistines to Shawn. It will be our one-month mission. Kind of like Mormons... only for good music instead. - -- Greg Welker welkerg@uakron.edu CBA Computer Labs The University of Akron - ------------------------------------------------------------------------ To unsubscribe from the list send mail to majordomo@smoe.org with 'unsub scribe small-repairs' in the message body. Your a talented & funny man. Missionary work indeed- & if I owned a record store I'd hire you in a flat second. So are there Shawn fans amongst those with flannel shirts & goatees? A higher likelyhood there perhaps than with the clueless blue- haired suburban grandmothers. Sell one of them a Shawn CD & we shall follow you around waiving palm fronds for the rest of our days. So give us a clue as to your night job and your music. Any recordings yet?
