Ric, As far as I am concerned, what you're doing is akin to missionary work. Yes! Convert all those heathen Barbra-Streisand fans into listeners of good music! If you can get hold of a John Tesh fan and turn him away from that force of evil, I bet it'd buy you some time off from Purgatory. ;-) Kristine 8080,8080,8080. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . 0000,0000,ffffk r i s t i n e d. f o n a c i e r 8080,8080,8080 < managing editor 0000,0000,ffffthe ffff,0000,0000i0000,0000,ffff-Site 0000,0000,ffffSky Internet New Media Group 8080,8080,80804/F The Spa Bldg., E. Gillilan" Subject: [s-r] Shawn in Birmingham Repairpersons: I attended Shawn's show last night and it was awesome!!! Shawn rules!!! She wore a black tee shirt and gray pants and had a black sweater tied around her waist. Looked great. Short hair like the photo on her AFSR cd. The place was about full of fans and we were supportive of her performance!! She only had her one Martin guitar and she played it, as usual, absolutely amazingly!! The highlights for me included the songs "Another Long One", "Polaroids", and "Round of Blues". She said that "Get Out Of This House" was rumored to be about Newt Gingrich :-) , and she also made a quip about playing before a rowdy crowd. During the show, a girl on the front row passed out, unfortunately, and after two guys carried this girl out, Shawn, never missing a note, at the end of the song, said "Well, now I've played in front of a rowdy crowd, and people will say "She rocks!". She also said "Sunny Came Home" was a "murder song". Her performance was very much appreciated and I really cannot wait to have another chance to see her live!! Debra Set list: "Rain Song"(?) by Paul Simon "Another Long One" "Get Out of This House" "Facts About Jimmy" "You and the Mona Lisa" "Polaroids" "Trouble" "Wichita Skyline" "Every Little Thing He Does" "Steady On" "Nothin on Me" "Sunny Came Home" "Round of Blues" Encore: "Four Seasons in One Day" "Shotgun Down the Avalanche" "You're Gonna Make Me Lonesome When You Go" - ------------------------------------------------------------------------ To unsubscribe from the list send mail to majordomo@smoe.org with 'unsub scribe small-repairs' in the message body. I came across it in the latest Australian Surf Lifesaver magazine, of all places... next thing we know Shawn'll be guest starring on Baywatch! (heehee.... don't say it Jean!) "Fresh, funky and thoughtful, this CD is a definite winner. While tracks like Sunny Came Home and I Want It Back have been receiving heaps (almost too much) of airplay lately, there are many more even better gems, like The Facts About Jimmy, New Thing Now and Wichita Skyline. Real lyrics, quirky - and brilliant - use of a range of instruments (viola, clarinet, recorder, cello, french horn, organ, piccolo, electric guitar, trash can...) and guest appearances from big names like Lyle Lovett and Neil Finn are just some of the pluses. Shawn Colvin has proved she is here to stay with this one." Of course, we already knew she was here to stay... :) And I *gotta* find out what radio station the reviewer listens to!! It also got a rating of 4 lifeguard patrol caps (stars are too boring), where 1 = use as a frisbee and 5 = become a groupie and join their fan club. Beat the other 2 reviewed cds... (my best friend's wedding soundtrack and dylan's newie). Anyway, just thought that was interesting.... it's not often I see Shawn's name pop up in anything to do with work!
