If it's legal, I'd send a wav file of the story to anyone who could put it on their web page. - -----Original Message----- From: Roger Lai To: small-repairs@smoe.org Date: 12 November 1997 17:44 Subject: [s-r] Re: Sunny Came Home From Europe >>Sorry, what's the Lyle Lovett story??? >> >>Thanks >>Phil >> > >Hey, maybe someone should write an FAQ?!? Anyway in my first three days I've managed to hype one person a day into buying a Shawn Colvin CD, and none of the three people had even ever heard of Shawn. Monday was a woman checking out Joan Baez CD's that I talked into buying Steady On with my "favorite female singer-songwriter since 60's Joni Mitchell" rap, Tuesday and Wednesday sold a Few Small Repairs to one woman who came in for the new Enya and one to a Barbra Streisand fan. What a feeling of power! (I also sold a Joe Ely to a guy coming in for country dreck and Steve Earle's newest to a Hank Williams Jr. buff, who was actually drunk when he came in the store, so that one was fairly simple, but those stats need not concern us here on the Shawn wavelength.) So I guess my realistic goal might be five Shawn CD's a week, does that seem ambitious enough? Maybe closer to Christmas I can up my quota. Ric ps. really sorry to hear about the South Bend audience being noisy, the Columbus audience was admirably restrained and attentive. pps. my favorite record store experience so far has been little blue-haired suburban grandmothers coming in with their offspring's Christmas lists and asking, "Where would I find the Gravediggaz/Bitch Killas CD's?" with heart-breakingly straight clueless faces. - ------------------------------------------------------------------------ To unsubscribe from the list send mail to majordomo@smoe.org with 'unsub scribe small-repairs' in the message body.
