A couple of days ago Van wrote: (Hey Van, read the end of this message too!) << Hey since we're plugging radio stations here :) , here in Boston there's a lil station, WXRV (92.5 FM for those Bostonians that don't know :D), that basically plays the AAA stuff noone else will. It's the only station around here where the DJ's play Dar, Shawn, Sarah, and Loreena all in a row. OK I'm done plugging this station. :)>> There used to be a radio station in Richmond, VA, (Gary, i know you remember) WVGO 106.5FM that played the greatest variety and was fond of shawn... i remember hearing XTC, Pearl Jam, Shawn and Enya all in a row... it was this radio station that exposed me to shawn or i would have never heard of her until Sunny Came Home! Alas, this station is now defunct.... but it greatly fed my addiction to CDs and introduced me to an incredible number of bands that i cannot imagine not knowing about... Animal Logic, Toad the Wet Sprocket, James, Nuclear Valdez, XTC, Toy Matinee... these and many others have come to be my Can't-Live-Without music. Truly a shame it isn't around anymore... and that more stations like it don't survive in the smaller towns and cities. Richmond lost a station with a brilliant format. Happily i still have an audio cassette of them... had a friend to tape 90 minutes of their airplay before they went off the air... 'tis all i have left. :( In a message dated 97-10-12 11:19:27 EDT, SarahAnneN@aol.com writes: << You live in Norfolk?Cool I live in Portsmouth.I think I have heard "You and the Mona Lisa" five times on the radio. And when I was at the Sheryl Crow concert they were playing Shawn too. >> okay... so it is pretty much just Patrick Springs, VA that is not hearing Mona Lisa.... rats. Though it is good that ya'll are hearing it! Gonna hafta' call my radio station yet again... (And hey... it's a small world ...don't worry i won't start singing. I was born in Norfolk! and have an uncle in portsmouth....) :) ~jean, now humming that annoying Disney song in 5 different languages...(heh, heh.. humming? in different languages? what a goof i am!) now playing: Loreena McKennit--Book of Secrets (Van, if you don't have this yet... you must get it! The Visit remains my favorite, but i was definitely not disappointed with the new one. An absolute must for your Loreena Collection, if only for her narrative in the liner notes. Check it Out!) - ------------------------------------------------------------------------ To unsubscribe from the list send mail to majordomo@smoe.org with 'unsub scribe small-repairs' in the message body. Don't know the chances of that happening, though, when they won't even release a Sunny CD single in the UK because they don't think it would sell well. Rats. Still, it wouldn't hurt to ask. Sunny Came Home is the only video i have seen in its entirety... i've only seen a small part of Get Out of This House, just a snippet of Steady On, and once i saw the end of Round of Blues in a JCPenny department store.... but that is all. :( Still waiting for Mona Lisa.... i never seem to watch VH-1 at the right times! ~jean bH - ------------------------------------------------------------------------ To unsubscribe from the list send mail to majordomo@smoe.org with 'unsub scribe small-repairs' in the message body. I did see a small snipet of "Diamond In The Rough" once, during an interview she did for someone. Speaking of great radio stations. I really miss WHFS FM 99.1 out of Annapolis, Maryland. I lived in suburban Washington, D.C. until moving to West Virginia in mid-1994. HFS, as it is affectionately know, has often been voted the Best Rock Station by the readers of Rolling Stone. Anyway, HFS was/is a big supporter of Shawn and her music. She did several live shows for them, including the 1993 Presidential Innaugural (I don't have spell check on this e-mail). I really miss HFS and not unlike yourself have had to settle for listening to some nice audio tapes I made before leaving Washington. Friends back in D.C. tell me HFS still plays Shawn, and not just the selected singles from each album. By-the-way, I just ordered a CD Single by Shawn entitled, "Wish You Were Here." Ever heard of it? I found it on the Vinyl Venders site. Take care and happy listening!
