Thanks, Siti, for taking the time to type that great article up. I am positve that would have taken me 3 hours to type! :) I think it's great that shawn is reaching new audiences... But does anyone else fear that our shawn may lose the momentum of Sunny if she doesn't hurry up and get Mona Lisa out there on the airwaves and tv show appearances? Of course, it could be that she just hasn't reached my thriving metropolis yet... (and we are hard to reach)... but if you let it fizzle for too long... you're sure to be on your way to One-Hit-Wonder-dom. Has Mona Lisa had regular airplay anywhere yet? A good example, and certain listmembers are certain to give me a hard time about mentioning this, (heh heh...) but when Paula Cole's ever-popular novelty hit, Where Have All The Cowboys Gone?, hit a slight fade, she was right back in there with the second single, "I Don't Want To Wait." Whether or not you like Paula's music, you have to admit, she did a great job of getting people to notice the second single right away. Granted, it hasn't done quite as well, but, hey... she's got 2 songs playing on the radio. I just couldn't bear it if i were to hear someone say, "Shawn Colvin? Oh she was that One-Hit-Wonder chick who sang about burning down a house..." I hope they don't wait TOO long for Mona Lisa promotions.... Timing is everything. I think radio picked up her second single so fast because people were *sick to death* of hearing the other one... oh well, at least I was. :) As for Shawn and the Mona Lisa... it's getting *lots* of regular airtime here. They still play Sunny on all the stations, and a nice acoustic version of it on one station... and I hear Get Out of This House now and then too... there's a nice healthy dose of Shawn on Dallas radio now.... Not as much as Sunny did but it's getting some. >A good example, and certain listmembers are > certain to give me a hard time about mentioning this, (heh heh...) but when > Paula Cole's ever-popular novelty hit, Where Have All The Cowboys Gone?, hit > a slight fade, she was right back in there with the second single, "I Don't > Want To Wait." Don't care much for the Cowboy song after hearing it 83465938 times but the rest of This Fire is perty good. If you want real Paula check out her first album Harbinger. (I'm in the minority on this but I think it's her better work) > I just couldn't bear it if i were to hear someone say, > "Shawn Colvin? I remember seeingthis tour and thouroughly ,oved it, but I gotta day after hearing the tape,..... that sound is a whole lot differeant than the AFSR tour with full band. The 93 show has alot of synthesizer and Shawn's music is much deeper than any quick organ can portray. Anyone have any audio or video recordings from the ASFR tour? I am also looking for a collection of music videos. Please email me if you do.
