That would be Anna Egge. Anna is a fellow Austinite and an acquaintence of mine. In attempt to describe her music--- I would say Anna has a deep, mellow, kind of a warm vanilla voice that, to me, seems more of a rich melodic vocal feel than that of the more vibrotic or rollercoaster dynamic female folkies. (She is an alto, if that helps anyone.) Her cd "River Under the Road" has a kind of earthy-country feel, both lyrically and musically. For those of you who may be interested in getting a copy of her cd, if it isn't available to you, I could hook you up. But you should know it is definitely more of a demo-type indie----not your typical prefab major label production eloquence. But it carries all the charm and promise that Shawn has very enthusiastically promoted. Her cover songs have a definite Shawn influence in guitar style and subject matter, and her live performances are becoming quite emotional and entrancing. Anna's debut gig here this past May in Austin at La Zona Rosa where Anna opened for Shawn (not bad for a debut gig!) (There are a few other list members that were there with me that night who could also expound.) Anna was filled with nervousness and excitement as she described the evening as, "...the happiest night of (her) life." Anna is a huge fan and now close friend of Shawn's. Last Friday I had the pleasure of seeing Anna open for the goddess... the sexy, infatuating messenger that Shawn suggests we kill, Jane Sibbery (omg!!! let me know if you want a review of Jane's show). Both performers were amazing. What was spooky for me is that after the show, Jane sought me out and walked right up to me, shook my hand and said, "Hi Anna!" Extremely jealous. BTW, what's Sibbery like? Have you ever checked out her Web Page? http://www.sheeba.ca/tableofcontents.html . Especially nutty is the Tunderland section. - -- Greg Welker welkerg@uakron.edu CBA Computer Labs The University of Akron - ------------------------------------------------------------------------ To unsubscribe from the list send mail to majordomo@smoe.org with 'unsub scribe small-repairs' in the message body.
