My impression is that he was giving Shawn these paintings at her shows; not throwing them at her. In Boston I saw a fan give Shawn a dozen roses. Does this make a person dangerous? I thought it was a really sweet gesture. I wish I had thought of it. I know in todays slightly crazy world; celebrities; espcially women; have to be careful about who they talk to. As long he is polite and non threatening I do not see a problem. Maybe I am being naive. I think it is only natural that you would want to meet someone you admire. I think he is just a guy who is a bit more of a fan than some of us. None of us can get into his head. Let us give him the benefit of the doubt. He seems to be a nice guy from all the reports on the list. Just remember he loves Shawn's music just like the rest of us. That means he definetly is a person of great taste. I was at the show last night in Plainview and I have to say that tonight's show was a lot more fun. Last night was wonderful, but the audience was a bit rude -- a lot of them talked throughout her performance and many people left early -- and I got the impression that Shawn was a bit peeved. Anyway, there were a couple of alterations on the set list. First she added "Someday" by request from a woman from Phoenix; she also did "Steady On" tonight and for the encore did "New Thing Now," "Killing the Blues," and "Diamond in the Rough." She left out the Beatles cover tonight which was a big bummer, but oh well, we got a great show!!! Hope the rest of the tour is as great as tonight's show. Later . . . I think if you recommend AFSR as a starting point, and the person gets hooked and goes back and gets, say, Steady On, they're likely to say something like "What the hell is this? Who made this bloody mess?" :) >'Boys for Pele'. But I never start people out with 'Boys for Pele'. >Chances are, by the time the CD got to "Professional Widow" they'd be >running for the door, screaming for their lives and souls ;) Actually, Pele was my first Tori album--before it, I'd only heard the tornado mix of Talula on the Twister soundtrack... I'd say some of the songs are a bit jarring, but all in all it gave me a favorable impression of TA (Professional Widow, Blood Roses, Little Amsterdam, Talula, In the Springtime of His Voodoo...)--in fact, I've listened to Little Earthquakes and Under the Pink since then and been rather disappointed... ...But that's just me. :) eb - ----- "Sometimes I see myself fine, sometimes I need a witness And I like the whole truth, but there are nights I only need forgiveness. Sometimes they say, 'I don't know who you are, but let me walk with you some.' And I say, 'I am alone, that's all. You can't save me from all the wrong I've done.' But they're waiting just the same, with their flashlights and their semaphores And I'll act like I have faith and like that faith never ends, But I really just have friends." -Dar Williams, "My Friends" - ------------------------------------------------------------------------ To unsubscribe from the list send mail to majordomo@smoe.org with 'unsub scribe small-repairs' in the message body.
