Hiya, this is Anna today (my clone is asleep). I personally greatly appreciate the work of Painting Stalker Guy. I'm learning something about visual arts, and I think that the three Shawn paintings I've seen by Gregg are quite good-- It's nice to see overlap in different areas of art. Beyond which, I don't think it's obsessive to paint Shawn-- in trying to learn, I've done sketches of any pictures of faces with nice angles, contrast-- I use everything from issues of National Geographic to my friend's old school pictures. And yes, I've done sketches of Shawn, so just toss me into the nut catagory, too. Who could resist those cheekbones? Oh, and does anyone else in the Northwest (USA) know what's going on with Shawn's tourdates? Is she or is she not playing Bumbershoot? What about the Portland date on the official list? What's up with the Idaho date on Sony's page for the year 2000? I, too, have enjoyed Gregg's posts. With as much mail as I get these days, I often find it hard to make myself sit and _read_ each message, but Gregg's messages were always great stories that I had fun reading! I think that not only is there nothing wrong with sharing your art (and expressing a sincere admiration for someone else's at the same time!) but that it is a remarkable thing to BE ABLE to do.. I was shocked to read something so horribly insensitive posted here, and I hope that Gregg rejoins our group knowing that he is appreciated!! Any Jane Sibbery fans no the song? The song is called appropriately enough, "The Walking" from Jane's album of the same name. Unfortunately the album is not available in the US. I believe you can get through Canadian mail order tho. Shawn also did a cover of Jane's "Sail Across the Water" for the movie "Edie and Penn" which also includes Shawn's "Fall of Rome." Gosh, wouldn't those two songs make great b-sides? Hint, hint to the PTB. He sounds like a stalker to me too. So the original poster was not the only person this had occured to. I'm so proud of you Janel .... because I know this must have been hard for you ;) You know, Mary Chapin's band and Paula's band did a lot of jamming behind stage to keep themselves entertained and apparently got along novelly!! Also, at one of the Lilith dates (can't remember which one ... St. Louis, maybe) Paula and Mary Chapin did a whole like hour long set together, doing their own songs and then some duets. We both feel that she is in clear violation of the following two rules of the list: 1. But PLEASE, be mature and open-minded to other peoples ideas and beliefs. Flame wars are not a pleasant thing on any mailing list and ARE STRICTLY PROHIBITED on Small Repairs. 2. Please be respectful of other subscribers. We are all Shawn Colvin fans and have joined the list to meet other fans and discuss Shawn Colvin, not to listen to people fight with one another. If you write a message thinking "Oh yeah, I really got them with this post!" please don't send it to the list. Don't send it at all. If you simply MUST lambaste someone, send it to them PRIVATELY. Normally this would call for immediate removal from Small Repairs. However, we are both believers in second chances and therefore have just warned Mimi. However, if this ever happens again (whether by Mimi or any other member of the list) removal will occur. Further, we have sent an apology to Gregg and ask him to return to the list if he would like. If he chooses to come back, please be equally respectful of him and all list members. If you are one of the one's who does not like him, his stories, or thinks he's creepy, well than by all means I implore you -- don't read his posts.
