Dunno about any other shows. Dammit!! I really like her thus far. _Blurring the Edges_ has been getting a lot of play in my stereo lately, and I really wanted to see her at the Houston Lilith. My only complaint about the fair is I wish the artists weren't quite *so* rotating. Does that make any since? I mean, true I am getting to see Joan Osborne (one of my all time faves), Jewel, Lisa Loeb, Emmylou Harris ... but still, I'd come close to selling my soul to see Paula Cole, Fiona Apple, and Shawn. But either way, I can't wait. >**Who-hoo post #2 today and I only just joined!!** Woo-hoo!! Great taste in music -- it would seem a lot of us here on 'Small Repairs' share your tastes -- isn't that ironic (sorry, sorry ... couldn't resist!!). As far as subscriptions, we have --- 76 people and the list has officially been online for less than 48 hours. So, so far, so good. They're not exactly *happy* type songs, and they do a lot of screaming and stuff. It's more of the style and lyrics of their songs. Mark - --- Inside my heart there's an empty room. Have a nice day, y'all. A second token Brit here, attempting the polite introductory formalities. I'm 38 years of age, and am resident in Manchester, England. Judging by the posts I've caught in the 24 hours since subscribing, I suspect I might be coming atcha from a musical axis slightly different from the norm. I look in on as many music-related lists as spare time allows, but these don't include the likes of Ani, Indigo Girls, Jewel, Sarah MacLachlan, etc. I've nothing at all against any of these gals - I enjoyed the Sarah concert that happened to coincide with a brief New Orleans visit a couple of years ago, and am looking forward to my first live Ani experience over here in Manchester on July 1st. But I have to admit that I'm presently much more familiar with some of the old fogey songwriters represented on "Cover Girl" than I am with these gentlewomen. :-) I guess I was taken by Ms. Colvin on first hearing Fat City in '92. I've only seen her live once - here in Manchester in the Autumn/Fall of last year, with John Leventhal, full electrified band, and Kate Markowitz in tow. A most memorable evening. At that gig I met a guy from Birkenhead who produces a snail-mail Shawn fanzine called "One In Vermillion", and who had just gotten a lengthy backstage interview with the lady on the strength of this effort. Is this fanzine known to anyone else? I was rather impressed by the back-issues, but I thought such an enterprise wasn't likely to prosper in this net-wise day and age. (But I've full subscription details, if anyone wants to prove me wrong.) BTW, may I ask what's with this [s-r] stuff in the subject lines?
