He did a few songs from the upcoming new album, including the title song, which may or may not be called "Careless," about accepting the status of an old friendship, and the no-title-given-but-could-be "Overcoat" about a prodigal daughter. Songs ranged from AYHN (which he genuinely seemed to enjoy playing) to "I Know You Rider." He's joined by Marc Shulman, who can get simply amazing sounds out of an electric guitar. Grabbing the set list after the show will now be grand theft, since he's now keeping them on his laptop. The new album will be pitched on PledgeMusic very soon now - in a week or two of Richard Time. He opened with "Transit," and my biggest gripe was the horrrrible processing that was done to his voice, essentially removing the bass and most of the midrange, and adding in reverb-erb. It was actually painful. My wife and I had a brief, wonderful chat with him while he was breaking down the equipment at the conclusion of the gig, ending with our amazement that as we get older, our foreheads get bigger WITHOUT WARNING, making it so hard to buy hats. Perhaps you needed to be there! As usual, a wonderful time was had by all. - -Howie ------------------------------ End of shindell-list-digest V12 #609 ************************************
