So I told him about Richard. His reply to my reply. Mike Hi Mike, Thanks for the link to RS song. I really liked it. I laughed when he talked about the accents and verbs Spanish has. It must be a difficult language to learn (mainly read and write, talking may be easier) for a not native. Just figure out some rules: c before a,o or u sounds as "k", but as a soft "s" before e and i. g before a, o or u sounds the same as in English (g), but before e and i sounds like "j" (to sound as "g" you must put and intermedia "u"). English is much easier!! Also noticed Richard has Argentine (not Spanish, nor Latin) accent. Why? Well, there were some "clues" on the song. In Argentina, we pronounce "z","s","c" (when placed before e and i) all as "s". Also we pronounce "ll" as "y". ("Y" phonetically sounds like the "J" on "John"). he sings senci"y"a, if he were from Caribbean area would pronounce senci-ia. The only "not Argentine" pronunciation was on the "v". We don't make much difference between "v" and "b" when talking, all sound as "b" (like in "boat"). Hope your problem gets solved. Thank you as you did very well. I will let you know what happens, as it only a few emails saved, probably nothing important, but you never know. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oiJE9lnF-io This is a Richard Shindell, singing his Cancion Sencilla, as Richard is from New Jersey in the US, but married a lady in Argentina, where he lives now. Itbs a great song. Best. Mike ------------------------------ End of shindell-list-digest V12 #580 ************************************
