Pretty good show @Infinity Hall in CT on Sunday. Piano player thought he was in a jazz band and took liberties to oversolo a few times, which is inappropriate with Richard's music and although sounded good, took something away from the focus of the song. RS tried to get the electric guitar player's attention so he might be able to swoop in and stop the piano. The guitarist would shrug his shoulders- he wasn't about to step on the piano player since that would have made it sound even more disjointed, since the pianist was out in la-la land and not really paying attention. I was a little frustrated to not hear the guitarist play more, since I've seen him before and he is very good.Everyone was rusty, but still great to see RS, and he was a little more talkative than usual and in good spirits. I also got a picture taken of us together, and I was flustered as usual. Like Woody Allen says, it's like pizza and sex; even when it's bad, it's still pretty good. 1. Bye Bye (May) 2. Arrowhead (Beyond the Iron Gate) Difficult to rule out a favorite like Iron Gate. 3. Juggler Out in Traffic (Blue Divide) 4. Kenworth of my Dreams (Grocer's Broom) 5. The Things that I Have Seen (Gray Green) 6. Money for Floods (Lazy) 7. Memory of You(The Weather) 8. The Courier (Spring) Spring is such a good song... but Courier is his best. 9. Cancion Sencilla (Smiling) 10. Sparrows Point (Gethsemani Goodbye) 11. Castaway (Che Guevara T-Shirt) 12. Nora (The Island) ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 13 Feb 2013 9:54:37 -0800 From: Subject: Re: [RS] second round >> Like Woody Allen says, it's like pizza and sex; even when it's bad, it's still pretty good. << Unless you're having sex with bad piano music playing in the background. ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 13 Feb 2013 19:33:59 -0800 From: gina Subject: Re: [RS] The rest of the first round winners. Hey! I thought it was going until Friday! I've been working on my votes, slowly listening to each pairing when I get a break from caring for my sick and grumpy toddler. Okay, looks like the voting for the second half of Round One has ended, and since most of the pairings are runaways, I'm calling this one. We had 33 voters this round, and here are the votes: 1. Yes, there were closer pairings, but the "Abuelita/Wisteria" match seemed to cause the most agony. The pairings for the next round are being randomly selected now, so stay tuned.
