I do agree with the oft-heard complaint (I first heard it from Cheryl Wheeler, I think) that you have your entire life to come up with your first work, and then you're expected to crank out similarly impressive work every two or three years for the rest of your life. I don't think it's a matter of there being a finite amount of art, although I do believe there may be a finite amount of interest, energy and enthusiasm to continue to crank out quality work . . . or in some cases, ANY work. I know several artists who just go the paint-by-numbers route and just release the same album over and over again. I won't name any names, but there are artists who I used to WORSHIP from whom I haven't bought a CD in YEARS. That's equally frustrating. So, until there's new Richard work, I'll just be satisfied that there's a catalog of classic Richard work.
