The one song that I liked right away was Ballad of Fred Noonan and I do like the New Siberia song as well. There's one song that reminds me alot of her Merry Go Round song. I'll have to listen some more to get a real feel for it but I do like when Richard's voice pops up in some of the songs. Anyone care to help with the fingering on some of Richard's songs in DADGAD, most notably "Get Up Clara" (as well as "Stray Cow Blues"), which I am totally stumped with, and "Waist Deep In The Big Muddy"?Bill ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 24 Jan 2012 14:44:25 -0700 From: "Matthew Bullis" Subject: Re: [RS] Antje Duvekot New Album (New Siberia) So those who have the physical cd, is the download the same? I know that with Antje's last cd, even though the German language track is listed on the cd, it's not available, or even listed on the download. Therefore, those who got the download only, didn't even know of the last track on the cd. Anyone pick up the new album? I donated to her "fan-fund" to make this record... and I'm really glad I did. I haven't fully absorbed it yet, but I'm really liking it. It has the same quality production as Highwire (as it should with Richard at the helm) and in a lot of ways I think it's a continuation of that album. Richard's voice isn't as present on this record as Highwire (although when he appears in a few of the tracks it's a nice surprise), but his influence is definitely there. Honestly, I did love the song 'New Siberia' when I saw the video a few weeks back. While I've grown to like it, I still think it's one of the weaker songs on the record which was a nice surprise. If you don't have it, per Antje's site, you can order it/download from: http://www.nimbitmusic.com/antjeduvekot/#newsiberia ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 24 Jan 2012 23:28:43 -0500 (EST) From: rongrittz@aol.com Subject: Re: [RS] Antje Duvekot New Album (New Siberia) I like it a lot. I like that all the songs are new ("Demise" had four re-makes). I love "Four Stitches," although I'm sad that she left out the bridge section that she's been performing for a year, although it's on the live CD, so I guess I can accept it not being here. I love the Christine Lavin-esque humor of "Perfect Date." I, too, wish there was more of Richard's voice. Most of all, I wish there was at least ONE rocking song, a scorcher like "Scream," or at least SOMETHING uptempo. I actually think "Phoenix" could have been produced that way, and wonder why they couldn't have added a few more beats-per-minute to the CD. But still, it's Antje Duvekot, and I'm one happy guy. Also, get ready . . . the Dave Carter & Tracy Grammer CD "Little Blue Egg" is coming out in a couple of weeks.
