What's drawn me to him has been the way he writes - it's his subject matter, his approach to lyric writing and his turn of phrase which I'm loving at the moment. Also, I don't think his cover of Springsteen's 4th of July, Asbury Park that he plays on Courier is anything special for instance. Having said that, I like Waist Deep in the Big Muddy (but I don't know the original). I thought it was his own song to start with, as the lyric seems to be very much the sort of thing that he would do. Either way, I'll work my way through all his original material and then maybe I'll have a pleasant surprise at the end with his covers! And I was lucky to snare him for a house concert here in Glenside, PA. See below for info. He will be performing with James Lee Stanley, with whom he did that Doors cover album "All Wood And Doors." Having also been a Doors fan, I'm looking forward to this concert; it'll be his first here at Glenside House Concerts. ================== Ken Yavit & Donna Ryder Glenside House Concerts Glenside, PA 215-572-7715 Glenside House Concerts website: http://tinyurl.com/GlensideHouseConcerts To join our mailing list, send an email to: GlensideHC-subscribe@yahoogroups.com ALL CONCERTS ARE ON SATURDAYS AT 8PM October 22, 2011 - Randall Williams & Einstein's Dreams (www.WhereIsRandall.com) January 21, 2012 - Cliff Eberhardt & James Lee Stanley ( www.cliffeberhardt.net, www.jamesleestanley.com and www.allwoodanddoors.com) March 31, 2012 - Don White ( www.donwhite.net) ===================================== Date: Sun, 2 Oct 2011 14:51:10 -0400 From: Pete Jameson Subject: Re: [RS] Cliff Eberhardt? Dude, Used to see Cliff in and around NYC, when I lived in Westchester county in the 90's...caught him at a house concert in Morgantown WV a few winters back - -- where Bridey and I and the host were the only people who had heard his music before (perhaps 30 in attendance). I was obsessed by an early song, my father's shoes, on which Richie Havens appears...and The Long Road.... Looks like he did a collaboration on a Doors tribute record -- not anything I would have expected from him, but i'm constantly surprised by artists...Enjoi! Somehow I've managed to miss this too. Just listened to the tidbits on amazon (and ordered immediately) . It often amazes me to find someone I've just completely missed for years and years. But it's fun too. New music!
