We had an impressive opening set from Michiganer Drew Nelson with some good songs and a great voice. Richard played a 90 minute set with Marc Schulman in what I would describe as 'an evening of old favourites'. What made it different, and enjoyable, was that the emphasis seemed to be on the guitars and the music rather than the words. Richard and Marc were playing off each other and it gave the familiar songs a quite different sound and feel. There was trouble with the cable or sound from one of the acoustic guitars so many of the songs were played with two electric guitars. I did enjoy Marc Shulman's playing which definitely added emotion to the music. Richard introduced the new song as something he'd written last weekend. I think he said there were some still 'loose ends' and he introduced it as "I think it's called" ... a title neither my wife or I can now recall:-( I can't honestly say the song stuck out, particularly in the middle of his greatest hits; A pleasant melody, what seemed a mainly strummed accompaniment, and word that didn't stick in the memory - but that's just me and my inattention!. It was about the guitar he was playing that he'd brought from the late Steve Bruton and the song was dedicated to him. I can't tell you what brand of guitar is was but the body was quite 'blond' and noticeably very thin and the headstock was 'classical guitar' style. It sounded pretty good too!
