OK, I'm having a brain cramp, I know RS has done Leonard Cohen covers LIVE, but I can't remember him ever putting a Cohen cover on an album. Is this possible?? How can he leave his biggest influence, besides Dylan, off vinyl? (Yes, Virginia, I know there's no longer vinyl...) I've also heard Richard say in an interview that hearing David Massengill was a huge transforming moment for him. I KNOW he's never covered DM, but then again, I don't know if Massengill can really be covered. Although Lucy K did an admirable job on her first album with "My Name Joe". And while I'm making a Christmas wish list here, I wish he'd do another Celtic gem like "Paddy's Green Shamrock Shore". This whole mental rant started for me when I "rediscovered" Richard Thompson's "Waltzings for Dreamers" a week or two ago. I would love to hear RS do that -- but as Master Jam Gritz reminded me, at least Thompson made a few cameos on delia. What do ya'll think?? *Ciao!* ......Carol ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 19 Dec 2009 11:55:01 -0500 From: Laurence Krulik Subject: Re: [RS] Cohen.... > I'm having a brain cramp, I know RS has done Leonard Cohen covers LIVE, but > I can't remember him ever putting a Cohen cover on an album. He put "Famous Blue Raincoat" on the "Archive Series #1" which was only available as a limited release. How do I miss these things?? I consider myself Richard's #1 fan -- you know kinda like Kathy Bates with James Caan in "Misery" :-) As you are using the past tense, I guess it's no longer available.....??? ...Carol On Sat, Dec 19, 2009 at 11:55 AM, Laurence Krulik wrote: > > He put "Famous Blue Raincoat" on the "Archive Series #1" which was only > available as a limited release. ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 19 Dec 2009 13:33:10 -0500 From: Laurence Krulik Subject: Re: [RS] Cohen.... I hadn't logged into his site in awhile to check (it previously was only available in a limited release). BUT, I just checked his website and it looks like he's now releasing his music as a digital download! (And this is news to me - he should send an email out or something.) Anyway, the archive series #1 is on there. It's a great recording and for $8 bucks worth every penny. Chalk it up to an early holiday gift. http://theconnextion.com/richardshindell/richardshindell_cat.cfm?CatID=257 On Sat, Dec 19, 2009 at 12:52, Carol Love wrote: > How do I miss these things??
