Then again, if I counted all the instruments I'd seen pass through Richard's hands... probably not a general interest thread though. - -jim c Someone in the audience Friday night asked about his other instrument, and he explained it was a bouzouki... although he laughed and said that's not what he called it coming through Miami Airport (referring to it then as an octave mandolin... :-) He also said it was "a piece of crap $150 instrument" that he loved - lest we be curious as to who the luthier was, it wasn't the brand name at the end of the headstock but instead an ice cream store sticker his son had put on there! Richard used the bouzouki on three songs: Acadian Driftwood, Reunion Hill and... the other d*mn cover song I can't remember (Canadian writer, snow, home, blue, aaarrrggghhh)... ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 04 May 2009 14:48:20 -0400 From: Howie Subject: [RS] Richard on Acoustic Cafe Richard will be on Acoustic Cafe the week of 5/11-17 "with his first new songs in nearly 5 years!" And 2 concerts back to back??? When I first saw the postings I assumed it was a a payback for helping finance the latest cd, but maybe not??? Did he have other business there? He must like FL at least a little better than MO or KS. Either that or no one around here is willing to come up with enough bucks to lure him out here. We do have an Argentinian restaurant here in KC!!! On a happier note, I will be attending a house concert this saturday in Lawrence....Antje Duvekot. Yep! I wonder if telling her 2 years ago when she was here that Richard was my favorite singer-songwriter had anything to do with Richard producing her cd!!! Probably not.
