Read this. This is great. Richard and Antje. Damn. Wish I coulda been there. Was anyone on this list there? http://www.messagefortheweek.com/entertainment/Story/090331-jem-shindell ==================================================== Hey Bob, Thanks for the link! Here's my first post to "The List". I was at the show! I happened to be on Richards site a few days before the show and was ordering a download of "Not Far Now" & "Live At The Chandler Music Hall". Found out he was playing in Bellows Falls. Had that day off and decided to make the trip from Central Mass. Made the long ride and showed up for a fine meal at Boccelli's. First visit to the town and it's an ideal venue. They still had a few tickets available and I was in. Ended up first in line outside and got a great seat. (Side note: Richards Publicist from Signature Sounds (forgot her name) was 2nd in line and we got to chat about Richard and other artists like Jim Henry, Chris Smither, etc.) The photographer from the article (Robert F. Smith) was to my left, so the picture in the article was my view as well. The show opened with Chris O'Brien. He reminded me of Ells Paul, nice tunes and great vocals. I ended up buying his CD (my RS collection is complete). He later called up Antje and I was thrilled. Heard about her, but never caught her live. They did a few tunes together and Chris said that she did vocals on a lot of his tracks. (Mental note: Order Antje's CD's.) I've seen RS 5 or 6 times and each is a treasure. He appeared in fine form. Made no mention of the finger incident and it didn't appear limiting his song list in any way. He did appear to be using chord patterns that let his healing digit have a rest (if that makes any sense). My seat location let me view his guitar work up close. First time hearing Acadian Driftwood live and was blown away! Another fun moment was his crowd favorite "Are You Happy Now". The photographer was up close for this number and Richard was doing different funny poses through out the song. Fun times. He called up Antje and talked about this being the first project that he produced. He said he enjoyed it. After they located TWO capo's, they were able to do one of Antje's songs, Vertigo. Pure magic. Mavis is a song that continues to grow on me. His version that night was trance-like. It's the kind of song that could go on for 20 minutes and and I would still be waiting for more. I'd die to be able to play Mavis like that. All in all, a great show that I was glad to attend. I've been reading "The List" on and off over the years (archives as well) and hope to make contributions. Another side note: Ron G has got me back into Guitar Mode again. His great chord site has allowed me to pretend that I can almost play RS material. Thanks Ron and keep up the good work. Sorry for the long post.
