Today I had the first chance to listen to it and it's great! Although it is not a complete show recording it still gives us great versions of Mavis, a slow Fishing, Whippoorwill (w/ Father Brown verse), Transit (Ashcroft militia men!), a rare Cold Missouri Waters and a first Famous Blue Raincoat (amazing) I prefer live Richard over his studio albums and I think this disc proves it again. This series is a great idea and I hope future editions will be with us soon. I can Richard being a little hesitant to give us recordings of unreleased songs but wouldn't it be great to have such a disc of one of the recent 2008 shows. Would love to hear some of these new songs on disc (Balloon man, State of the Union, Get Up Clare, Bye Bye), as we all know it could be a while before a new studio album will be with us. Anyone heard that one? Thinking of the new songs I've heard so far . . . Balloon Man Parasol Ants Get Up Clara State of the Union Walden Well . . . and thinking that if Richard can come up with five songs as good as those, I'm almost thinking that his next record could be his best. I was suprised at how flawless the recording was. As much as I enjoy "The Courier", I always prefer my Shindell solo and this has some great tracks, especially the covers and a full version of SSTW. If you haven't picked it up, it's well worth it.
