Depressing? I think both are very funny. We saw Richard and Antje in New York in august. Not on the same day. Richard could have a calming effect on the nerves of Antje. It was the only show on the continent. His first in 10 years. Richard played for 2.30 hours in the Pomme d'Eve. A cellar in the Quartier Latin. A wonderful setting and nice people. Joseph Parsons opened the show. See for the setlist and a review in french: http://www.mysongwriters.com/Shindell07/setlist.htm And in English: http://leakysparrow.blogspot.com/2007/09/richard-shindell-joseph-parsons.html His best show we have seen until now! He even tried to talk French. His pronunciation is for an American very good. But he did know many words. He said that he was the worst student on the 3 month course French language on the Sorbonne. He only did get a diploma to impress his future wife. We came from the Netherlands with some friends. It was definitely worth the trip. There were people from Italy too. Richard promised to come back to Europe every year! Another short review turned up in my Google alert today, from a familiar face, and with a great pic. http://www.flickr.com/photos/o_caritas/1329052848/ Bert, I love that rather inscrutable expression Richard has in the pic you posted up on your blog. Is he incredulous? Taken aback? Horrified? Drunk? - --Vanessa On 9/6/07, bert gazendam wrote: > > After the shows in England Richard went to Paris. Funny timing...this e-mail reached me immediately after an e-mail from a friend here in Boston, replying to my "let's go see Richard and Antje at the Somerville Theater!" invitation. Heh. I've seen the two of them play together before, and I've seen Antje perform around Boston a handful of times. (I actually live two blocks away from her in Somerville, or I did until she moved, and her roommates are friends of mine and fellow members/volunteers/staff at Club Passim.) She's wonderful. I'll definitely be at this show. (Although I need to hear from several people before I purchase tickets, grr...) - --Chris - -- "We were born in a dark age out of due time (for us). He is playing at 3:45 PM on the main stage. Also playing that day are Chris Smither, The Kenendys, and the Nields among others. I know Red Molly has some big fans here and they are playing the fest kon the opening day. I won't be able to attend but thought I would pass the info along. It is in Preston, CT. They have 3 fests a year (a Cajun one, a bluegrass one, and a singer songwriter style one) - they are a bit odd as it is a campground but I have had fun at many of their fests over the years, especially the Cajun one. Hope to catch Richard either at the end of the month or in November.... Adam - --------------------------------- Luggage? GPS? Comic books? Check out fitting gifts for grads at Yahoo!
