He was so right on, not one stumble with words, his banter between songs was comfortable and hilarious, he blended so well with Sara and Greg it made me think that all they've been doing during the first 5,000 miles of their 10,000 mile road trip is singing while driving! As usual Richard's guitar playing was masterful, making amazing sound come from just 6 strings. It was a small, appreciative crowd who clapped loudly when Richard said he was going to do all of the songs in his book and groaned just as loudly when he said maybe he was exaggerating! The set list as well as I can remember: Fenario Che Guevara T- Shirt Fishing Deportee Waiting for the Storm There Goes Mavis Walden Well Reunion Hill Arrowhead **Intermission** Cold Missouri Waters Waist Deep Hazel's House Sitting on Top of the World Senor Lawrence, KS Nora You Stay Here Are You Happy Now? Last Fare of the Day Transit Ascent Richard sang with such intensity during all of the songs it was if they were all brand new. After listening to him sing the songs from South of Delia I listened to the CD over and over all weekend with a new appreciation. A fabulous evening that left me wanting more live performances! Here's the link for "Reunion Hill," but "Mavis," "Next > Best Western" and "Kenworth" are there as well. Great heads up--with good video quality to boot. I know I've said this before, but it still baffles me--How the hell does he get the sounds he gets on Mavis. I hear it, I've watched him closely live, and now on this Youtube video, I hear 2-3 different, individual notes at certain point in the song, but I see only one strumming movement. I guess the hand is quicker than the eye. Any of you guitarists out there similarly puzzled, or am I just pathetically underskilled?? Also, hoping that the upcoming NYC show is as good as McCabe's. Favorite out of--wow--61 shows! I can't wait. I must say I am completely in love with a couple of songs. The real standouts for me are Deportee and the Storms are on the Ocean. Both songs are so beautiful. Texas Rangers, Mercy Street and Born in the USA are also excellent. It seems to me that Richard picked songs that speak to today's political realities in the US - especially Deportee. Born in the USA is almost a completely different song being sung by Richard. Those are my thoughts for the moment! ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 10 Apr 2007 01:49:33 EDT From: Rongrittz@aol.com Subject: [RS] "South of Delia" chords. I know, I know. I had said I wasn't sure if I was going to work on transcriptions for the "South of Delia" songs, at least not right away. But I couldn't help myself. Some things are inevitable, just like death and Texas. So, six songs from the new CD are up for your pickin' pleasure.
