Incidentally, up to this point, I felt like Vuelta, while not my favorite collection of Shindell songs, has been far and away my favorite to date as far as the sheer production value. Awesome talent aside, I've always felt Larry Campbell can sometimes be a little heavy handed for the subtleties of Richard's music. (And i admit, I like a "lighter," more acoustic sound. So that's personal preference, mostly.) While not mentioned in the list of talent, Sara Milonovich also contributes fiddle... her name might not carry the significance that, say, Trishka's does, but my word, is she a fine accompanist. (The Abbie Gardner of fiddle, right, Gene? he he he) Sara also does a really nice version of Reunion Hill, as I've probably mentioned before. - -jim On Feb 19, 2007, at 11:31 AM, shindell-list-digest wrote: > 'South of Delia' is a superb disc; great songs and musicians and some > of the > classiest, most restrained > and appropriate production you could wish for. ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 19 Feb 2007 11:47:50 -0500 From: "Michael Larkin" Subject: [RS] Re: Shindell's new CD You can pre-order the CD from RS's website. Just to clear any confusion up, we're selling the disc in Europe - obviously for those in the US & Americas it makes much more sense to buy direct from Richard's site so we're directing US sales that way, and Richard will do the same for European customers. I tried to not send the email to US email addresses, but obviously some slipped through as they're not country specific (AOL etc.) It is an awesome record, the quality of the work on there is breathtaking at times, but until everyone has it it's a little unfair to start talking about it so....only 4 weeks to wait! thanks and best wishes Neil - ------------------------------------------------- Fish Records Suppliers of singer/songwriter, folk & acoustic music Shrewsbury, England neil@fishrecords.co.uk http://www.fishrecords.co.uk tel +44 (0) 1743 231546 fax +44 (0) 1743 354354 - ------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 19 Feb 2007 11:04:08 -0700 From: "Matthew Bullis" Subject: Re: [RS] Shindell's new CD This was a well-documented piece on the album, and the samples sound great. Does Richard answer e-mail, because I'd like to clarify if we must buy the album from this UK seller, or wait until some distributor in the US has it? It says 13 pounds or so, but that's quite a bit in US dollars, and my US dollars are few in number right now, and so I must make the most of them, by buying the most economical disc, including shipping. If this is indeed self-released, then maybe Richard could sell it through CDBaby, as he has done with other cds. BTW, is there any way to get the recording of the Vermont show? I tried the RS online store, but didn't see it there. Must I wait for the April 20 gig, to see if it's being peddled there? I'd really like to get tit before, so I have something in my iPod while Tom Paxton is playing! If you go to the online store on his website, it's there big as life. Did I missing some announcement that it was being released? Is it going to be available in stores, or just on-line?
