I only heard two songs by him, "Girl with a Hayrake" and "A plague on both your horses." But I like what I hear. Excellent! It's hard to believe he's so young! His younger brother Harry is also a musician though I haven't heard anything by him. I'd also like to recommend Antje Duvekot & Anais Mitchell, who happen to be sharing a co-bill next week in my neck of the woods. These ladies are young but their songs are quite stirring. RS content, Anais opened for him when he played Joe's Pub a few years ago. Ever since I first heard her in July, her CDs have been in heavy rotation non-stop, and "Big Dream Boulevard" has crept into my list of all-time top-ten CDs. I saw her here in San Diego when she opened for Ellis Paul, so I only got a six-song experience, but anyone who gets a chance to see her should definitely do it. And make sure you ask her to do her great new-ish song "Christian Boys." She sounds great. I don't have any of her cds yet, but listening on her site, rat present I think I prefer her less produced earlier work. I'm sure her latest will grow on me and plan to order it soon. RS is still my fave. carrie in kc > Oh baby, don't get me started on Antje Duvekot, my new favorite. But the produced versions of those three songs are great also, and "Big Dream Boulevard" still holds together as an entire CD much better than the previous two, each of which have a lot of banter, some underwhelming songs, and very much of a "demo" feeling to them. There's a fun YouTube video of "Dandelion" that should smite anyone who isn't yet, y'know, smitten. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AKnTpRvdQJI RG ------------------------------ End of shindell-list-digest V8 #188 ***********************************
