Gene said this: ( yesterday ) ....................................................................... It's way early, but I thought this list should know that our own Jim Colbert will be opening for the extraordinarily talented Red Molly at our house concert 'series' in February, '07. For more information, as well as Jim's picture and bio, go to www.courthouseconcerts.com. Gene F. ......................................................................... Ha! I'm gonna tell Red Molly what you said about them! And then!!! Well... ok ... it's hard to see how anything bad could come out of it. Those of you who are not gonna see Richard - Red Molly and Jonathan Edwards ( Sunshine Go Away Today... ) is a great double bill. Check it out: ouitpostintheburbs.com I may even try to catch Red Molly at your venue - but it's on Long Island - and people from New Jersey generally try to stay off Long Island. ( We got everything here that you got there - and we don't talk funny - so why would we go there? ) But - back to OutpostInTheBurbs - check out our Christmas show - Raul Malo! what a voice! And we got Arlo Guthrie next Friday. ( Hey ... maybe I can talk with Arlo...Arlo!...about that song Deportee... and that Richard is gonna put out a version? Maybe not - for obvious reasons they try to keep me away from the artists themselves. see ya.... I just remembered what i thought i remember. Its easy to get distracted by John Gorka. Susan Werner called him the "mcdreamy" of folk music, and i was distracted. though i know a few women who call Richard Shindell "the McSteamy" of folk music....Russ played mandolin all night with John and his addition to the music was stunning. John has a new cd out called "writing in the margins" and its classic Gorka. its one of my favorites of the year. John deserves his props. he was the only performer at falcon ridge this year that sat and watched all of the Emerging Arists in the showcase. that is about 4-5 hours of artists singing two songs each. There was no other performer who sat there the whole time but John. I acknowledged that to him and he said he got inspired by the newer artists. sharon ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 18 Oct 2006 16:54:08 -0400 From: "Kristen Myshrall" Subject: RE: [RS] john gorka >>John has a new cd out called "writing in the margins" and its classic >>Gorka. I whole heartedly agree...it is just a GREAT cd! If you don't have it...get it. It'll hold you over (somewhat) until (what is it now?) March? And speaking of new cds, Lucy will have a new one (hopefully) in February. At least we'll have a happy late winter. >>though i know a few women who call Richard Shindell "the McSteamy" of folk >>music Amen to that :) - -K _________________________________________________________________ All-in-one security and maintenance for your PC.
