This was the fourth time I'd seen Richard and I think it was the best show I'd seen to date. The weather was perfect and the park was absolutely beautiful. Although I am a tremendous fan of the acoustic guitar, I was mildly disappointed that Richard didn't bring his bouzouki, I would have liked to have seen him play it for once. I did spot Bonnie in the front, her description of curly blonde hair was apt and hard to miss. I did not stop by and say hello, but I still felt a kinship knowing that other list members were there. I found it particularly poignant hearing Richard perform Last Fare of the Day here in downtown Manhattan. I gave him a standing ovation for that song if anyone noticed. It was also quite a thrill when Lucy Kaplanski appeared and joined Richard onstage, though she could not be heard too well. I was sitting near the couple who became engaged during So Says the Whippoorwill, was that not cool? The evening was definitely one of the high points of my summer, of which there have been many. I agree, Wednesday night's concert in Madison Square Park was great. The weather couldn't have been better. I'm not sure my initial message made it through, but I wasn't able to get over to Live Bait before the show. But I did manage to convince a friend and four co-workers to attend--and everyone (not surprisingly) thought Richard was quite wonderful. I tried to capture some of the songs on my digital camera, but ran out of space rather quickly. Apologies for the shakey camera, but if you click this link, "Are You Happy Now?" should play: http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-6350483121730881111. Hope it's enjoyable.
