My brother is starting to waver a bit, claiming lack of sleep, but I'm still working on him. I'm also trying to recruit a friend who works in the city. He's a dark-haired, shortish kind of guy, with short-stubby arms, and a head like a coconut. You can't miss us. We'll be sitting at the bar eating Catfish or Gumbo, or something like that. Still working on parking. I'm sure there are lots of garages in the area, but I'm trying to avoid paying $35 if I can. A friend of mine works right near the park. I'm going to call her in around an hour. Greg S. Get on board. You're invited to try the new Yahoo! Mail Beta. ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 09 Aug 2006 22:31:19 -0400 From: sdgold60@optonline.net Subject: [RS] madison square park i know there were many people scrawling set lists so ill let them post the list. Richard had two acoustic and an electric guitar and Lincoln was with him on stand up bass. It wasnt a surprise to see Lucy Join him for 2-3 songs.... the surprise was in the crowd, i saw Jodi Gill, the sign language interrepter and Mike Viseglia and wife and new dog, walking around... Mike ofcourse is a nyc Bass player, with Suzanne Vega and Dar. Richard was in good voice though he strained some times. YOU could not have asked for a better night with perfect weather, though a sweater could have been in order... Speaking of the weather, Gene, i asked Richard to play it for you..... he groaned and shook me off like a bad pitch... i even tried to ask him to drill it... i think hell will freeze over before Gene Frey hears the weather live....... there were dancing kids, dating fans, and dragon flies....... you couldnt have asked for anything more than the full moon...... sharonG ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 09 Aug 2006 23:15:00 -0400 From: Bart Gallagher Subject: [RS] Boulton Center Yeah! I like that, as long as you're referring to beer and not gasoline. ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 9 Aug 2006 23:54:22 EDT From: SHOE4347@aol.com Subject: [RS] Richard Shindell does Madison SQ Park Tonight I was able to be in attendance for a fine show with Richard and his bassist Lincoln S. in Madison Sq park NYC. Here is the playlist: Waist Deep in The Big Muddy (Pete Seeger cover) Fisherman Deportee (Woody Guthrie cover) Mavis So Says the Whipporwill (some guy emailed Richard requesting this song and proposed to his girl friend in the park on the spot. It was a very touching moment when he took off his outer garment to display his Rangers Jersey and engagement ring in hand) Senor (Dylan cover which RS said will be on his forthcoming CD) Summer Wind, Cotton Dress (Lucy came on stage to accompany on harmony) Are You Happy Now? (with Lucy) Cold Missouri Waters (with Lucy) The Last Fare of the Day Kenworth of my Dreams Courier Wysteria Somewhere Near Patterson Encore- Abuelita To dispute some previous lister here, I did not see any drunks or incessant talkers or dancing in the aisles. It was a great night to be outdoors to see a super artist doing his craft for his many fans. And you could not complain about the price, only the one Portapotty not too fully cleaned or filled with TP. What a joy to get home tonight to hear the Yankees won! That's always a bonus after a great show with Richard and Lucy.
