Those were some awesome shows. It's a great venue, not a bad seat in the house. (I might be a little nostalgic here.) Don't know how much you know yet about A^2, but The Ark is a great venue for all kinds of music folksy, so even though Richard doesn't play the Midwest all that often these days, lots of other great artists do. I suppose I can see why Richard plays the coasts when he's on tour in the USA, living in Argentina he doesn't get to tour as much as he used to, so I guess he needs to go where most people know him and he can be confident of filling the room. (I remember one of his shows at the Ark that was very poorly attended, which was confusing to me - why don't people recognize a gem when they hear one? Although I suppose getting them to hear it for the first time is always that nut to crack.) Anyway, Amy, enjoy Ann Arbor! Art Fair and Hash Bash and all those things - the memories, I tell you! The fuzzy, slightly incoherent memories... - --Sally sally.heaven@gmail.com ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 2 Aug 2006 21:32:23 EDT From: JMoorehous@aol.com Subject: [RS] Re: shindell-list-digest V8 #124 Richard doesn't seem to do Michigan. Sorry if this has been covered, as I'm on the digest and don't see posts as they come up. But Richard does, indeed, do Michigan. His agency is Fleming Tamulevich, which is based in Ann Arbor. He has played the Michigan League on campus, the Ann Arbor Folk Festival, and--at least 10 times or so--the Ark. We've been going to see him since the first CD came out, and I don't ever remember a tour that didn't include at least one an A2 stop (though he has periodically done a short circuit of exclusively East/Northeast clubs). Check out theark.org. And welcome to law school. If there's anyone you can sue to shorten the winters, we'd all be grateful. And now we know why some folk artists only publish a release month but never a year ;) - --Reinhard ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 02 Aug 2006 22:30:12 -0400 From: Rongrittz@aol.com Subject: Re: [RS] sig sounds newsletter >> Signature alumni Richard Shindell and Erin McKeown have both just finished albums of covers for release in *early 2007*. << I'm taking bets . . . It is a fine park but no lawn seats available so bring a blanket or a folding chair. The park did have a porta potty so you wont have to leave the main stage park area to go to Wendy's or McD for a potty break. One guy got into an argument with the security guards for taking pictures with a huge zoom lens a few feet away from Eliza and got booted so if you want to take pics use reason and keep back from the performers and dont use a flash. RS should put on a great show and if you dont like it you cant complain about the expense.
