Most of the ones I found on Flickr are not orange, but some are, and they look like I imagine Mavis might, expression-wise, anyway. He wowed the audience pretty much at the University Cafe at Stony Brook University this past Sunday evening, even though it wasn't exactly a filled house. Sad news to report however...Mr. Morton suffers from severe tendonitis and can barely strum his guitar any longer. Unless he finds someone to accompany him on guitar (ala Racheal P. Davis with Brett Hartenbach) during performances, we may have seen the last of him as a performing songwriter. Damned shame. Hey Bart, I had no idea you and Janet did not know each other otherwise I would have introduced you. Janet, we never got to say hello but I did see you in the audience sans your hubby. Here's another tip on a great new talent bound for glory: Eilen Jewell. Her new CD, "Boundary County" wqs just released from Signature Sounds and it is pretty amazing. If your taste runs to Madeleine Peyroux, Gillian Welch or even Billie Holiday (if she was a folkie) then you will be mesmerized by this little blonde wisp of a girl who hails from the New England area. Pay her a visit: www.eilenjewell.com. That would be a real shame because he's such a talented singer/songwriter! I'm surprised to hear this because he played so beautifully. > Janet, we never got to > say hello but I did see you > in the audience sans your hubby. Yeah Ron I was going to say hello to you after Pete signed my cd but you had a real crowd around your table! And you're right, the place could've been more crowded. I always try and bring part or all of my crew with me to see new singers. They only know the music on the regular radio so sometimes it's a hard sell but they really loved Pete. They've come to love Richard's music too but I suspect it's because of all his concerts I drag them too! But you can't believe how pissed they get when he doesn't sing their favorites. (AYHN,Mary Magdelen and lately Calling the Moon) I sure hope Pete comes up with a solution because it would be terrible to lose him as a performer. Anyone going to Falcon Ridge? Janet Tired of spam? Maybe a button with a bright sky-blue background and an orange canary, preferably in flight, would be better....more discreet, yet recognizable to fellow listers. Looks like Sally found some of the few canary photos online. Finding one in flight is a bit tough. Here is one from the same site. http://flickr.com/photos/amerpie/15382852/ I don't suppose we could steal this one - canary escaping from cage http://www.inmagine.com/itf161/itf161015-photo carrie in kc > After reading the last digest, I became obsessed with finding pictures of > canaries. The last time a few months ago was without doubt his best yet..the songs he's come up with recently has raised the bar considerably on the standards of his previous work.
