Ha! The line was around the corner. Seems like R is a bit too popular for this small venue. I would have been standing if I hadn't spotted an old friend there who shared his table. While waiting outside Richard jumped out of a car, and I quickly announced myself, requesting a reward (the name of the new cd) for traveling so far. R said it didn't have a name yet. He said he had read all of our suggestions and it wasnt going to be one of those but he would come up w/ one soon. It was a good show of course, and worth the trip, but R may have been a bit tired - he wasn't very talkative. Also I was disappointed in that he didn't play the electric guitar. I'd been looking forward to it since I've never heard him play it. Lots of songs on the bouzouki or whatever that instrument was. The one song i didn't care for w/ it was Mary Mag. He played just one song as an encore. I think he had a plane to catch. This must have been Wednesday then....Pete was 87 and BBC Radio 2 did a one hour special centred around a new interview with Pete himself and featuring contributions by the likes of Ralph McTell, Janis Ian, Ry Cooder and Tom Paxton and others. It's well worth listening. You can also hear Pete talking about 'Waist Deep'. Hope this link works.... http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio/aod/networks/radio2/aod.shtml?radio2/mikeh Tired of spam? Yahoo! I had seen Tom Russell recently and one of his songs, "Touch of Evil" is based on this film Noir B-movie. It's set late 50s on the border, with Charlton Heston as a good Mexican cop, sans accent, and Orson Wells as the evil cop. Great stuff. :) BG - ------ Bart wrote: Doesn't anyone want to know who Hank Quinlan is?? Is he the Police Chief from that Orson Welles movie "Touch of Evil"?
