For those of you who aren't on Richard's newsletter list, here's his most recent update. Larry Campbell. Yay. Yay lots. RG _ _ _ _ _ _ Greetings all. For those of you who have been waiting for the new record, I'm happy to tell you that it's almost done. It's taking a bit longer than expected, but it should be mixed by the end of April. As soon as we have a release date, I'll let you know. Basic tracks are done. Overdubs are mostly done. So far, guest musicians include Viktor Krauss (upright bass), Larry Campbell (pedal steel, electric guitar), Tony Trischka (banjo), Lucy Kaplansky (harmony), Sara Milonovich (violin), Dennis McDermott (drums and percussion), and Lincoln Schleiffer (electric bass). Most likely there will be one or two interesting additions before it's all over and done with. Greg Anderson (founder of Whirligig, sometime colloborator with the Klezmatics) who showed himself to be invaluable during the recording and mixing of my first record, Sparrows Point, has been making trips down to here to Buenos Aires in his capacity as co-producer (with yours truly). Lousy host that I am, he has seen none of the sights. The only time we've gotten out was to stroll down to the stadium where the Rolling Stones were playing. Our attempts to pass ourselves off as roadcrew having failed despite Greg's very convincing stab at a Yorkshire accent (as if that degree of verismilitude would've persuaded the argentine security-guard), we sat outside the stadium in the rain with all the other losers who couldn't get tickets. We did hear some music though. I'm almost positive it was Satisfaction. Greg still insists it was Paint it Black. Between now and the end of the month I'll be preparing for the upcoming tour. Most of the shows I'll be playing solo (electric guitar, bouzouki, nylon-string guitar, as well as the usual acoustic). A few shows (Huntington, Irvington, and possibly Wayne) I'll bring along some friends (tba). Also, there are two double-bills with Lucy Kaplansky (Lebanon, NH and Wayne, NJ). I'm looking forward to getting back on the road. Hope to see you all there. - -Richard ------------------------------ End of shindell-list-digest V8 #41 **********************************
