Don't get me wrong, I'm not posing any of my thoughts necessarily as reflective of anything in the song itself, so I really am open to the idea that it could be simple, though I tend not to think so. The fact that I end up with a jumble of obscure and unrelated notions has nothing to do with the song as much as my inability to make those notions cohere--or to select ones which make sense! As Janet says, it's all just a guess, but I love that the song, as beautiful as it is, inspires analysis, and has those intriguing images which really do work--I just can't figure out how, and I can't stop myself from trying. I will have nothing which will make it look like I'm working. Except for, you know, work. << Don't worry, the list ain't going nowhere. It's just when there's no tour and no new release, traffic here can get a bit slow. And so it's up to y'all to start topics, and SOTW is always a good idea. But I must say, after reading some of these crazy FDL musings (which I believe must be written tongue-partially-in-cheek), I almost long for the days of "It's got a good beat; I can dance to it." ;-) RG ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 30 Jan 2006 21:56:17 -0500 From: Chris Foxwell Subject: Re: [RS] Re: Dance Song of the Week On 1/30/06, Rongrittz@aol.com wrote: > > But I must say, after reading some of these crazy FDL musings (which I > believe must be written tongue-partially-in-cheek), I almost long for the > days of > "It's got a good beat; I can dance to it." ;-) Okay, new listserv topic: favorite RS dance songs. My nomination is "Nora." ;) - --Chris - -- "We were born in a dark age out of due time (for us). But there is this comfort: otherwise we should not know, or so much love, what we do love.
