John: You are correct, sir. Ron: Wow, I sure hope THAT'S something that doesn't become a habit. Doctor Kaplansky complements Mr. Shindell perfectly. She accompanies him on several recorded songs, was 1/3 of Cry Cry Cry (I think the Middle One) and appears on the live album. Her latest, 'The Red Thread' is very good only one throw away song in my opinion, a kick them boots country number that could be a "hit" for Shinia Twang. I really do like her cover of Dave Carter's "Cowboy Singer". Richard sings with Lucy on "I Had Something". "Scorpion", an older song is also a favorite. She's one of those angle cowboy singers. Ya know, from New York. Enjoy. I don't remember the name of the album but it is an acoustic, all covers album. He picked some interesting choices that most wouldn't think he would do - besides Dancing Queen, he also covered Radiohead and Bob Marley. It's a good album. At first I started to laugh out loud. Then thought, hey he's really pretty good and it's quite a different rendition, still chuckling from time to time. Not a laughing at Luka kind of chuckle, but a 'this is neat' feeling. ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 31 Oct 2005 08:43:06 -0800 From: john cleirigh Subject: Re: [RS] Re: shindell-list-digest V7 #254 I don't care what instruments he brings to California this week. Lucika's harmonies will more than distract me from what type of stringed box Richard is playing. As long as there's frets and some dadgad thrown in, I'm good. I loved hearing the "bozouki vs. octave mandolin, when going through airport security" bit the other night at Passim. I hope there's more of that this week. I'm bringing a soon-to-be-rabid-but-doesn't-know-it-yet RS fan with me Friday. She won't know what hit her when the night is over. john - -- John Cleirigh | P.O. Well, in the midst of conjecture as to why Richard, at least for the time being, is not playing a standard acoustic onstage comes word that he's selling his Taylor XXX-RS. And, as usual, he's giving list members first shot at it. It's an un-numbered prototype (says "Factory Demo" on the label) in near mint condition, just a year old. It has Taylor's exquisite Expression System installed, which is relatively rare for their anniversary models. Also, it's the same guitar that appeared on the cover of Dirty Linen magazine. The list of happy RS-listers who now own one of Richard's Actual Guitars is a lengthy and distinguished one, so feel free to write me with any questions and perhaps join the club.
