It was worse than Tracy Grammer's show a couple weeks ago, and that was pretty bad. In the wave editor it looked like a solid block, all even along the top. I think that means high compression. Also, one channel was very low volume. Again, same as for the Tracy Grammer show. Did anyone have a different experience? The show was a good preview for one we're going to on November 20 at the Sellersville Theater. Anyone else going to that one? Also, I haven't received any posts since Kristen's Thursday night at 9:32PM. Have there been any other posts since then? I picked it up at around 9:25. Even through my cheezy internal laptop speakers Richard sounds terrific. He is in excellent spirits from the sound of things, and it's pretty cool to be sitting here listening to the show live. As an aside, I was once listening to Grassy Hill Radio on my wireless laptop, and commented on how amazing that was. "Yeah," said Isabel, "almost like a radio." Well, whatever. I guess Richard mentioned that he was doing a covers CD, because he has noted a couple of times that a song may or may not go on the new disc. Of what I've heard, let's hope that 'Senor' and 'Northbound 35' are both in the 'may' column. 'Northbound 35' is absolutely one of the best new songs I have heard in a long time, and Richard has nailed it the past two nights. Back to the show. I am totally jealous of those of you who were at one of these three nights. I could really get used to 2 Richard shows every week... But definitely the best thing was meeting shindell-lister Chris (and his friends) at the table where the Passim people had seated me. When looking at the small cards they put on the tables I recognized his name as the one of a regular posters. Fun. Oh I digress. Okay here's the set list: Senor (Bob Dylan Cover) (making fun of Bob Dylan) Acadian Driftwood (Robby Robertson); I talked to him about this song during tonight's reception and it seems that I'll end up on the record which makes me unbelievably giddy (Yup. I'm getting obsessed ;) A song by the Cuban musician Silvio Rodriguez (the same one as the night before) and I still didn't get the title A dsnde van (Silvio Rodrmguez) Lawrence, KS (Josh Ritter) The Ballad of Mary Magdalene Northbound 35 (Jeffrey Foucault) The Next Best Western Sitting on Top of the World (Doc Watson) Fenario Che Guevara T-shirt Fishing (it might be just me but the current rendition of this song appears to me the best ever and gives me the goose bumps) You Stay Here Transit (still with Ashcroft republicans; perhaps he should upgrade to Rove republicans while he still can :D ) - -------- Here goes Mavis ~Reinhard ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 28 Oct 2005 20:56:45 -0700 From: "Matthew Bullis" Subject: Re: [RS] Thursday's Show at Passim The stream has gotten progressively worse in the past two years. The right channel has always been low. The best I've ever heard the stream was for a two-show night with Lori Mckenna in December 2003. When I record the stream, I just mute the right channel completely and pull everything to mono so that the sound comes out of both speakers equally. My e-mail friend Dierk wrote the club from Germany, thanking them for the stream, and asking if they could turn down the volume to a listenable level. Thanks a lot. Matthew Tired of HotMail? I'm hoping that he does record Acadian Driftwood (it was amazing!), Lawrence, KS (another one that sound even better with him doing it!) and the Carlos Gardel song (El Dia Que Me Quieras) that he did last night (another amazing musician go listen to his stuff!), it is just a gorgeous song! >A song by the Cuban musician Silvio Rodriguez (the same one as the night >before) and I still didn't get the title ------------------------------ End of shindell-list-digest V7 #252 ***********************************
