Talk about a cruel rain. - ---- Yeah, I knew I'd be missing another great show at the Brokerage last Wednesday. We had company from out-of-town and took all the kids to the Ducks game. QUACK! One day Richard will have to play The W-ather for G & I, and I hope I'm there too. But haven't we had just about enough of this Heat and Humidity? Here's to all the Moms and Dads. As for encores, surprises are welcome. Many years ago I saw The Who, who came out and did a rowdy version of Twist & Shout. Totally unexpected. At folk festivals, at least here in the East Coast, it is a rarity to see an encore. For instance, the only person at the Great Waters Folk Fest from a few weeks ago to get an encore was Cheryl Wheeler, and that was because people wouldn't stop clapping and hollering for more. I have also been to a few shows - albeit in the minority - where encores didn't happen. I like them even if they are a tad fake.
