I'm one of the "old folks" who has been somewhat muted for a while, but while silence is golden, it's also too quiet, and there is no ACTUAL gold. So here I am, speaking up again. For those who I know, this is Sally Green from the old days, and due to my November 2004 marriage, I'm changing my name to Sally Heaven, and going by Sally Green Heaven for a few months to help people adjust (because let's face it, calling oneself Sally Heaven sounds like a joke if there's no context). My partner's last name is Heaven and it's pretty much karma that I married her, because when I met her I made endless jokes about her last name. And for those who I don't know yet, hi! So far I can say that marriage is heavenly. Still love Richard Shindell's music very deeply, and after years and years I still find new depths to his songs, even ones that I have heard over and over again. This morning I was listening to Vuelta and "The Last Fare of the Day" moved me to tears - again. Those lyrics, that voice, the intricate and powerful guitar work - we should start a discussion list so we can delve into these topics in detail. Oh wait, we already did that! :) - --Sally ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 29 Jun 2005 10:36:27 -0400 From: "Eric Hidle" Subject: [RS] Re: shindell-list-digest V7 #153 I usually use this and it sounds really nice: D/F# 440100 G 550000 D/F# G Asm que te ofrezco and for this: Sslo dice que te quiero 550000 x1234x x2400x walking to x0400x, 4040xx, 550000 The chord in question (x1234x) is a C#6 Salud Eric > Ron, > That sounds like the chord that would go with > > 4x4340 5x000x > Asi que te ofresco > 4x4340 5x000x > Mi primer intento > > The one I think she is referring to is in this line > > 5x000x ???? 5x000x > Solo dice te quiero > > The 4x4340 sounds like a simple minor or 6th, where the one needed sounds like some kind of 7th or augmented or diminished chord. Beth, for lack of anything else, I've been using just this 3 note thing, x434xxx, which for me gives the "tension" or leading feel to go back to 5x000x (or 52000x if you prefer the fuller sound). I don't know, pickers, I didn't attend Berklee. Give it a try. > > Greg in Worcester ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 29 Jun 2005 17:44:41 +0000 From: alderon@comcast.net Subject: [RS] Fall 2005 Richard booking Hello, fellow listers. I haven't posted in a while, but this one is worth it! If you live in the greater Philadelphia / New Jersey metro area, Richard was just booked (for the first time) at the Sellersville Theater; in Sellersville, PA. for November show. This is partly because of my begging the booking people, and partly because the Point Theater in Bryn Mawr is closing - (sob!) - a wonderful spot that Richard has played many, many times. The good news is, ST is a perfect venue for Richard - larger than the Point, but still small enough. Perfect sound quality and great beer and wine! I have volunteered at ST for the past two years; and we have had John Gorka, Dar, Lucy, et all...but never Richard. If anyone on the list has questions about the venue, tickets, directions, whatever - please email me offlist, and I will gladly help. Please support Richard and Sellersville Theater on their "first date".
