As someone who plays guitar (in the loosest sense of the words), but not well enough to warrant purchasing anything better than a cardboard box with some rubber bands and a paper towel holder, I am intrigued by your preferences among high quality instruments. I'm sure your preferences are a combination of physics/acoustics and art, but are there any very basic qualities that you would all agree are required before even thinking about purchasing a particular guitar? After that, it's really about what sounds best and feels comfortable in my lap. There *are* inexpensive guitars (read: <$1k) that meet all three of these criteria.
