Richard Shindell - Abuelita Mana - Me Voy a Convertir en un Ave Ruben Blades - Desapariciones .............................................................................. ..... REPLY: Yes Sandra.... There is a beautiful Sting song... I think it's called "They Walk Alone". About a group of grandmothers in Argentina who used to walk in a big circle in a plaza every Saturday ( I think) - they were there as a social protest - in effect saying to the ( old? ) government ( We will walk here until you tell us what you have done to our children - and grandchildren too I guess. ) Google "Sting" and "Argentina" and "grandmothers" and maybe it will all fall out. Or ask someone smarter than me - and it would help if they speak Spanish - the group of grandmothers has a name - but it is a Spanish name and I cannot remember or pronounce it. OK - back out of lurk mode. I will post a bit about the show at The Turning Point when I have my notes in front of me.... bob paterson ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 17 Apr 2005 07:34:52 -0400 From: "Elizabeth R. He has a kick-ass song on there called "Los Desaparecidos". Very hard hitting stuff. If you can't find it, email me off line. We do get lots of good folk music here in Felton (Santa Cruz), just not Richard. I also believe that Buenos Aires is in the same time zone as the East Coast, so it's a no-brainer for the sleep situation after a long flight. Still, I dream of seeing Richard and Lucy on the same stage here someday. As TW pointed out they played with Tracy Grammer in PDX a while back and I almost flew up for that one. I think RG was there as well. I'm sorry I missed it. john Lisa Davis - home wrote: > Don't you think this has something to do with the frequency of flights > from Argentina, maybe, and that he grew up on Long Island / lived in > Baltimore? Don't you in Santa Cruz have Martin Simpson? ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 17 Apr 2005 14:26:47 -0700 From: "Sandra J. I ended up downloading that entire album from the Apple Music Store. I also discovered, when I searched there for the song by Sting, that Sting has apparently recorded the CD "Nothing Like the Sun" twice: once in English, and once in Spanish and Portuguese (that CD is called "Nada Como el Sol"). I like the instrumentation on the Spanish version of "They Dance Alone" better than the English version, in part because he uses the Peruvian wood flute (or whatever that instrument is called). I appreciate the help. Sandy ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 17 Apr 2005 14:39:58 -0700 From: "Sandra J. Is there a reasonable explanation for this? Anyone? It's not a boxed set or anything like that; it's just a single CD with a dozen or so tracks. ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 17 Apr 2005 10:51:38 -0400 From: "Bob S" Subject: [RS] Re: help with a playlist > Date: Sat, 16 Apr 2005 12:42:32 -0700 > From: "Sandra J.
