No doubt a conciliatory gesture for Steeler fans. Look for more Philly dates in Feb. Bart in NY Who was rooting for the Steelers last Sunday after the J. E. T. S. Richard will be performing at the Ann Arbor Folk Festival on Saturday, 1-29 (not friday, 1-28). He will also be returning to Ann Arbor on 3-19 for a show at the Ark, and Schuba's website has him in Chicago on 3-18 (not 3-19). He is part of what is being billed as the First Annual Folk Festival here in St. Louis. Hmmm. That kind of sucks, because it will be way less of hime with 4 performers. The only one I know if is Carrie Newcomer. Any thoughts on the line-up for the uninitiated? Tim O'Brien, Viktor Krauss, Carrie Newcomer, and Richard Shindell. We didn't get that rep for nothing! We will throw batteries at you and make you cry. Oh, yes, there's a reason why the Washington Times described Vet stadium where the Eagles used to play as "one huge nest of death, a place where civilization has died and been replaced by green-and-silver-shaded anarchy." Truth be told, I'm sort of glad the whole Steeler thing is over. It was too ironically depressing the way the whole city was like, "Yes! Finally, there's a reason to get up in the morning!!" - --V > No doubt a conciliatory gesture for Steeler fans. > Look for more Philly dates in Feb. > > Bart in NY > Who was rooting for the Steelers last Sunday after > the J. I thought I hadn't heard of Vicktor Krauss so I went to Amazon. He has one album - Far from Enough - and it is instrumental. I listened to clips and heard Alison in the background of one song. That's when I realized Vicktor must be her brother! I'd heard he had a cd out she was touting. You have to decide whether you like his stuff or not; it's not what you'd expect. Tim OBrien is pretty good. You can listen to him on Amazon also. Don't judge him on just one of his albums though, because they are all very different, at least the ones that I've heard. Somewhere I saw someone say that he has 3 types of albums that he puts out: Collaborations with his sister Molly, solo roots music albums, and special projects which usually have a lot of covers. The album Away Out on the Mountain, with his sister, is incredible. I like almost every song on the album, It's not all original material, but the songs are great. His other great album is Red on Blonde, a collection of Dylan covers. I'm not a Dylan fan at all, but I love this album. I also have the solo album that has a celtic influence - I forget the name, but I like that one too. I tried some of the other solo albums and didn't like them very much. BUT, he's an incredible musician, and a great singer. I may be taking a trip to St. Louis from NY, because I've been wanting to see Tim O'Brien for years. To see him and Richard together would be great. There's a song of Richard's where the singing reminds me of Tim O'Brien. It might be "My Love Will Follow You". I'll remember the next time I hear it. Anyway, big thumbs up on Tim O'Brien. Maybe I'll see some of you in St. Louis.
